Pretty underwhelming returns tbh. Not to mention trading both Miller and Boeser without getting a good RHD in return would be a huge failure

I feel like given the cap situation going forward signing Copp may make the most sense. He’s not as good as Miller, but he’s already fit into the lineup really wel and doesn’t require a trade to be made. Plus he’s cheaper to extend then Miller as well which is really important.

I’m personally not a huge Boeser fan. At 25 it doesn’t seem like he’ll hit that elite level and more likely be a top 6 guy who hovers around 50 points due to being injured every year. Sorta like Mantha. But, he’s a more sure thing than Zadina, and I still have hope for Zadina myself. At the cost of a 2nd and 4th it’s not horrible. What his next contract looks like might be the deciding factor if it makes sense for Detroit in the long run. Overall it’s a tough one, and being so probably means it’s fair.

Boeser has a qualifying offer of 7.5 millions. He's not worth that kind of money.

Boeser only scores at the same rate as Fabbri and he costs only half the money.

I wouldn't trade anything for Boeser unless he's already signed to a contract for much less than he's making now. I don't even think VAN is going to qualify him but instead let him walk and if that happens we can get him in FA for nothing.

He’s had a bad season he’s. He’s still been scoring at a 30 goal pace his entire career. You realize he doesn’t have to sign a QO

Boeser scores at a higher rate than Fabbri. 44 more goals and 96 more points in only 15 more games. He’s just having a down season this year. And it’s very likely he signs for less than his QO on a contract with more term

Yes I do realise that he doesn't have to sign a QO.

That's exactly the reason why I said "I wouldn't trade anything for Boeser unless he's already signed to a contract for much less than he's making now."

Without that contract signed though there is absolutely no guarantee that will sign anything with any team he's traded to and the only way to avoid him going UFA is to offer him those 7.5 millions.

Without a contract signed at a cap and salary that reflects his production his trade value is nil.

Boeser scores at 0.59 PPG this season. Fabbri scores at 0.54 PPG this season.

No team is going to pay assets, like what's asked for here, for a player that can decide to go UFA within weeks of being traded and the only way to stop him is to offer him twice as much as he is worth.

How come you're not keeping him if he's so good and so easy to sign?

Zadina is scoring at 0.31 PPG this season. Is that really too big of an asset to give up?

As I said, Boeser is having a down season but has scored at a 65 point pace every year of his career before this season. And any team that were to trade for him would likely be able to negotiate a contract before the trade is official.

And do you seriously believe Boeser is only worth 3.75M?

Zadina is 22 years old and is playing his first full season. Yes I think that's too much to give up for an unsigned player that may walk. Boeser isn't worth 7.5 millions and the only guaranteed way to keep him is to offer him that amount.

I don't think Boeser is worth much more than 5 million or thereabouts but until that contract is in place his trade value is nil.

Oh his value is certainly not nil around the open market, just to Detroit maybe

Well, that was the offer made and commented on and I am a Detroit fan and not qualified to comment on how fans of other teams may view Boeser.

I do doubt though that his QO-amount, which is way higher than what his performance warrants, wouldn't severely limit his trade value for any team being approached to such an extent that no team would offer him a top-6 prospect and two draft picks whereof one a mid 2nd-rounder.

Yeah, well Zadina isn't really a prospect anymore, he's more of a reclamation project now
