Ottawa doesn't accept. way too much to give up. I could maybe see a top 5 or top 10 protected 1st in 2023, Brannstrom and Greig but Ottawa is very high on him so thety might even say no to that

They totally do this. Debrincat is a goal scoring stud. They rid themselves of the White contract. Brannstrom is a bust, Boucher is gonna be nothing. Formenton, Pinto and Grieg plus a top 10 protected first is well worth it. Plus it opens up future cap space for a big contract to resign the Cat. And Murphy gives them a steady top 4 for years

IT's time for OTT to start trading their cupboard of prospects

Only changes I think I would do if I'm Ottawa is I would keep Pinto as center depth, and maybe trade one of my defensemen prospects, either Thomson or JBD. Now, their values are still slightly lower than pinto, so I would expect them to add a second rounder. Also, I think Ottawa would rather keep one of Greig or Formenton, which would result into giving up maybe another second rounder and either Sokolov or Jarventie

I agree Debrincat is a world class goal scorer and Ottawa absolutely needs to move some of their prospects, but I don't see them moving Grieg, Pinto or Boucher unless Dorion gets replaced. I would love to see Debrincat in Ottawa but Dorion is known to be stingy when it comes time to trading for big name players. I also think its too early to say Boucher will be nothing when he plays exactly like Tom Wilson and that style of player is becoming more valuable, but i aslo agree Brannstrom is looking more and more like a bust

I wouldn't call Brannstrom a bust cause he's an everyday capable NHL player who was a mid first round pick. However he did not live up to what was expected from him after being traded for Mark Stone.

His comparable at the time was Karlsson and he was supposed to be his replacement. Probably not fair to him to put that kind of pressure on, but he hasn't even hit half a Karlsson yet which is disappointing.

I don't think anyone expected him to be near the level of Karlsson it's just that they're both Swedish offensive smaller defensemen. Chabot had already stepped up after his departure. Brannstrom was a 15th overall pick the year before, those typically don't turn out to be Karlsson level players (except Karlsson himself lol). So if a 15th overall pick is an NHL regular running a powerplay at 22 than I wouldn't call that a bust.

When I said he's looking more and more like a bust, I meant it in the way that he just hasn't hit the ceiling he was supposed to. Obviously the fact he's becoming a regular nhl player is a big sigh of relief for sens fans.

I think that trade is fair value. It is a lot to give up, but it isn't every day a player like Connor McDavid is made available. Oh wait....that's for Debrincat?

Senators aren't moving Pinto. They are super high on him. He might be their 2nd best prospect who hasn't played a full NHL season yet behind Sanderson.

I don't think they will move Boucher unless it's a situation where a team overvalues him as much as they did. He's not worth a top 10 pick, maybe not even a 1st round pick. But they took him as a project. Unless you're valuing him at a top 10 pick (which you shouldn't), he makes no sense in the trade.

In a different thread, I speculated what Dorion might give up for Fiala. Debrincat has an extra year of team control, but he is in a similar situation to Fiala, that if he doesn't want to re-sign with his current team, he can use arbitration to get himself right to unrestricted free agency. So it isn't likely he will be moved for "full value" (which almost never happens, unless you're Chicago trading for Seth Jones...)

I speculated Dorion would give up:
-7th Overall Pick
-Roster Player (C.Brown or A.Formenton)
-B/C Level Prospect (Someone taken in the 2nd/3rd round who hasn't seen their stock rise since being drafted, or Brannstrom)

I also thought Gustavsson could go to Minnesota in the trade as a throw in, since he won't have much value around the league given his waiver status and 1 way contract, combined with his poor 21-22 season.

So it would be something like 7th overall, Connor Brown (UFA), & Erik Brannstrom. Chicago could flip Brown at the deadline for something like a 2nd+3rd. If he has a strong season, maybe two 2nds, or a conditional first. (I don't think he gets a 1st straight up, the only forward rental to get one at the most recent deadline was Giroux). Ottawa won't re-sign Brown to a long term contract in the 5+ million range, so he would be a sunk cost.

With that said, I don't think Ottawa should target Debrincat. I am also guessing based on your insane proposal, you will think a top prospect at 7th overall, a solid roster player, and a B/C level piece is not enough for Debrincat.
