No thanks on Muzzin, I think the Kings would rather re-up Edler at a lower cap hit if they can't get Chychrun and go after a top-6 winger.

Somehow knew before clicking on the thread that you were dumping your terrible contracts on the sabres

There's no indication that ownership is willing to take on garbage unless something pretty nice comes with it. Maybe Arizona will continue to be the Walmart of the league, although I'm not sure how they would considering they are moving to an 8,000 seat arena, and their ticket pricing structure should make it am empty house for every home game. Seriously did you see it? They are asking $350/game as a season ticket price for the the good seats, in a market with no fans. Anyways, teams can continue to hope that the sabres will do them a solid on the cheap, but I got some doubts.

But people still try to project that image of a poverty franchise on the Sabres

The pegulas spent money like drunken sailors for a few years, unfortunately, as success continued to be a complete stranger to them, fans eventually stopped coming, and they got tight. Their wealth went from 5 billion prepandemic to 5.7 billion now (last I heard), so there's no reason to really believe that they won't spend eventually, but I'm pretty sure they are done pissing money away. And taking a god awful goalie that we have to hide in the ahl for a 5th round pick, well that would be exactly the pissing money away thing I'm talking about.

Id say the attendance issue has nothing to do with the team. Fans stopped coming because of covid restrictions, once those were lifted we've seen the attendance rise, the problem is most restrictions were lifted at the end of the season in March and April, when there's not many games left, and there's still confusion about whether or not arena mandates are still in place, so I know personally there are fans that are just waiting until next season to hope everything's sorted by then. We were still getting near sellouts up until the league was shut down in 2020. Would their performance have reduced those numbers further? maybe, not as drastic, not when you can buy tickets on stubhub for 5$ last minute and go get wasted on a Tuesday night

I know people who didn't get vaccinated and the southern Ontario fans I totally get not showing up, but that's only part of it. The frustration with losing, the whole eichel thing, and the arena itself have worn people down too. I think people will come back, you're right about the Tuesday night thing. The last 2 months has been the glimmer of hope plus omicron dying down and restrictions easing. It's not just one thing. My point with the attendance and the pegulas is that, I suspect, that spending above the floor, with a half empty barn, the pegulas are paying any extra out of their own money. If this train is truly on the right track, I expect the arena to be near full, which should allow some discretionary funds for adams to play with. Be interesting to see what the season ticket numbers look like for next year, if it's not great, you will have to tease out the numbers because they will likely report out seasons plus minipacks or something.
