Quoting: Feelers4Ehlers
Thank you!! There are a few Jets fans who are stuck and have drank the kool-aid from Chevy and the ownership group that our players are the be all end all. That could very well be with better coaching and better leadership in the room. But that room and coaching staff need a major shift. So bringing in new players is a way to do that and like I said in a previous post re-engage with the fan base. Show that management is looking to spark something up.
With Edmonton, I looked long at their roster and their D is getting up there in age. Right side they have Bouchard and Barrie. 2 good pieces. On the left they have Nurse who eats ALOT of minutes. Morrissey would fit in well taking some of those minutes and help bring the age down. Barrie is 30, Keith is 37, Russell is 34. Time to strengthen the D in Edmonton. Same kind of thing in Columbus. Except their left side is solid but could really use a #1 right side to help with Boqvist and Blankenburg get to NHL caliber. Blankenburg us having an amazing year in Michigan but hasn't played much in the NHL yet. Bringing in Pionk would help take pressure off them and help their D offensively.
I love Chisholm's game. It's too bad he is a left hand shot that prefers the left side. They have tried moving him to the right but has shown that he is more suited to the left. Being behind guys like Samberg and Heinola is his problem. Going to Montreal where he would get playing time for sure is best for him. When a guy hasn't seemed like himself over the past years I always like reuniting them with a player they have played with before and had success with. Drouin and Ehlers complimented each other well in Halifax and I think that would happen again in the NHL given the chance. Why not take a flyer on him. He has one year left on his contract and if it doesn't work out you don't re-sign him.
Dillion is not great defensively. Also Lijlegren is younger and cheaper and plays the right side. If that pairing does get murdered you put Schmidt with Heinola. They seem to play well together. Lijlegren gives you more than Dillion does.
With the Arizona deal Arizona would be the broker to help retain salary for Wheeler to go to a team that would be on his trade list. The 3rd team maybe throws in a draft pick and another B level prospect.
TNSE and their lapdogs in the local media keep most fans placated but there's some who can see through the spin.
I think it's laughable that now many of them are saying something is rotten with this team but they basically laughed at any fans who a few years ago were saying something was wrong in the room.
Edmonton has Broberg whos a LHD they drafted 8th OA in 2019 plus some other young LHD coming up and there's cheaper LHD to either sign or that would cost less to acquire, the Oilers are super thin on the wings, they can't afford to trade JP or Yamamoto.
Columbus has a hard time keeping guys and Bjorkstrand signed there long term, they likely won't trade him and they definitely won't trade their 1st in whats supposed to be a deep draft, also don't think the Jackets need anymore smaller dmen like Pionk, they need some size and defense first type dmen, would love Bjorkstrand on the Jets though and think they really need a top 6 winger like him.
If there's a dman I think the Jets should look at moving its Heinola, think he could be a piece to get them something they need. I just don't see where he fits anymore, Morrissey isn't going anywhere and Samberg needs to be in the lineup.
I disagree, Dillon is solid and the Jets have plenty of Lijlegren type dmen plus I'm sure the Leafs want to keep their drafted guy as cheap depth since they're so tight for cap space.
I like a lot of what you did here just not sure its all that realistic.
