K, but will that signing really bring up the overall quality of the team? I think that the best bet would be to sell and rebuild

You will need to offer him 11M to outbid Calgary

Why? Their core is young and has proven that they can be a top team in the league when fully healthy. It’s not worth it to go full rebuild after two wonky seasons. This team isn’t too much different from the 2019-20 team. Ellis has played 4 games, couturier has been out for most the season, a bunch of other major injuries, interim coach, like this season is a one off. Signing gaudreau would be a massive improvement and the correct move.

What if its not about money for him and would rather be closer to home?

No team is giving up assets for 7m JVR. Some team with cap may take him as a "gift" though. Yea, I think Gaudreau is either Devil or Flyer next season. Long term, Jersey might be the better tea.

I doubt that considering his family is very pro re-sign with Calgary and he has said how much he loves Calgary and how it's like a 2nd home to him

He will make them better, but I think they need to have a retooling period where they reevaluate their pieces, and build for 24-27 as opposed to going half arse for eternity.

As a canucks fan, mediocrity is worse than being really bad
