Doubt that’s enough to steal him away from the Canes but it’s an interesting thought. Necas would be a nice player to build a center core around.

why not offer sheet Dach, bruins have been looking for a Big C for a while now i know chicago has cap but if B's were to give him a 4x5.5+ i wonder if chicago would even consider matching or just pull a montreal and accept that the player hasn't turned out yet and take the picks.

Dach is also more of a playmaker which could be nice inbetween pasta and hall

Necas also plays more RW then C

There's so much that goes into this. A.) Necas plays RW. B.) You even have him as a #1C? C.) The most important part...CAR will exact sweet sweet revenge and won't even try to hide it.

It doesn't always happen same year. CAR has proven that they'll mess with you...so don't start it.

Then Don Sweeney has one job. Get swayman locked up, and then Carolina can have at it. No RFAs that matter.

Big flaw in the plan here - he isn’t a center.

Until Lysel or someone else. Again. It might be years later but he'll get ya. Already has a proven track record.

And each teams GM might be different by then. Doesn’t really matter.

It might not be enough to steal him away but Carolina has many players to sign and they probably aren't planning on paying him 6M on his next contract. Necas is an intriguing player who might always leave you wanting more or he may just be ready to flourish heading into his fourth season. For me the risk/reward for a 1st and 3rd is worth it.

Sweeney just has to worry about his team and making it better. Part of making an offer sheet is being sure your bases are covered if it is successful, meaning Swayman, or moving on if it is not successful. Fearing reprisal should not even come into the equation as long as a GM is doing his job properly.

In fairness, Sweeney hasn’t exactly been known for doing his job properly.

Your concern that he isn't a center is warranted because that is what Boston will be in desperate need of. He's not a center in Carolina because of Aho, Trochek and Staal and even next year when Kotkaniemi steps in for Trochek. The question is can he play center if given the chance and the supporting cast. If Boston believes so then it is worth the risk because he is a very talented player who hasn't quite broken through yet. If not, the Bruins should look elsewhere and not offer sheet him.

Sorry, let me clear this up for you. He sucks at center. He’s a very bad center. This has been tried.
