Strome sucks lol, whether he is better than injured Monahan is irrelevant since no Gaudreau = bad team. You are not replacing Monahan with Strome here, you are attempting to and failing to replace Gaudreau.

There is no replacing Jonny, you have a younger 100 point player in Chucky who needs to get paid as well and still has team control. The Flames won't pay both the 10 million they're likely to get. This is basic stuff here. We can cycle back to this when Monahan is indeed shipped or bought out and if I'm wrong so be it.

Ok you are arguing 2 different things here and completely missing my point.

If the Flames loose Johnny signing Strome is bad asset management. You loose Johnny you retool, and you dont sign another slow center who's completely carried by his wingers. They are way better off just hoping to have Monahan rebound with 2 working legs now and sell him for value at the deadline.

Also you are making up some weird idea that Flames wont consider signing both Gaudreau and Johnny, Neither probably gets 10M either. I could very likely see both signing for 9.5 at max term
