Lost every trade by a considerable amount. Feels like going well out of the way to turn a playoff roster into a draft lottery roster in a hurry.

Why would Detroit pay assets for a player that hasn't played a game in two years?

How on earth does that Stolarz trade make sense?
Stolarz played in Edmonton and wasn't good enough to make the NHL team the following season.

Am I missing something?
This trade is something peter chiarelli would have done.

There's an argument that because he only has 1.5 million real dollars left on his deal he might not think it's "worth it" to come back for that little money, depending on how laborious it is to play as a skater in your late thirties and if his role is going to be reduced because of his poor play.

My personal opinion is that he won't, 1.5 million is still a lot of money, but the rumor (which lacked a good source) flying around after the trade was that if things didn't work out in Edmonton this year he would retire, or maybe go on LTIR if there was something they could justify.

Look at his save percentage, he’s an upgrade over what we have

Even if he was playing why would Detroit pay to rent Klefbom?

Pay what? Adam Erne and a mid round pick? If he does play you win that trade easily

No one is going to give up assets for Klefbom.

Klefbom is done, We're not giving up assets for him. Even if it's just Erne and a 4th round pick.

How? Sabers get a better prospect swap and proven top line player and middle six winger. The only plus in it for Edmonton is swapping second round picks certainly not worth even a quarter of what giving up.

Lol this is so bad.

Kane contract is probably too light

Sabres deal is borderline offensive. Quinn and Bourgault at probably valued relatively similar to their respective team. Both recent 1st round picks. Quinn has higher pedigree but both prospects are just that. Prospects. Neither are bonafide superstar studs, but won't know for sure until down the line. Both teams like their guy so I don't expect people to agree. That leaves Puljujarvi and Foegele for Girgenson. JP is an analytics dream. He is obviously not offensively producing as expected, but he plays so well and the numbers of everyone he is on a line with improve with him. He is also a fan favourite. Foegele is a good 3rd liner. Started out slow, but also just got traded for the 1st time. He has a fair contract so there isn't much to dislike about him. Girgenson is a borderline 3rd liner. You are pretty much giving away Puljujarvi for nothing....Good job mate

Stolarz is not getting anything close to that. Oilers laugh at Skinner for Stolarz. So adding in a 2nd and a fan favourite in McLeod is just asinine. Stolarz was a borderline NHL backup in previous seasons. He is having a nice little run with the Ducks, but needs to prove a lot more before he starts getting interest or a return like that. Wouldn't be confident expecting him to replicate his numbers going forward.

Except that Jack Quinn is a 1.5 ppg player in the AHL and Bourgault is a 1.5 ppg player in the QMJHL

? Jp is a top line player and Bourgault stock has risen considerably since being drafted sooo I’m not sure what part of that is tough to understand.

We must have different views on what a top line player is and Jack Quinn is the better prospect who outperforms what your so called "top line player" did in the A.

LOL like I said.......... Quinn has a higher pedigree. He's a higher draft pick and a year ahead in development. Bourgault is younger so of course he is still in junior haha. What point are you trying to make?

The picks are a wash. Quinn is more valuable than Bourgault, but both are still prospects. Foegele is probably more valuable than Girgenson. That leaves Puljujarvi. He is highly valued by literally everyone aside from a handful of old-school writers who strictly look at G's and A's. Theres no question he is a legitimate top 6 winger who is only 23 and a behemoth of a human being. Thats gotta be worth something, no?

I was mostly just emphasizing the major difference between the two. Your point was fine just needed a bit more clarity that Jack Quinn is a much higher quality prospect
