That’s kind of what I thought. How would you adjust to make it work.

Highly unlikely. Wrong side of 30, tons of injury concerns and too many years left on the contract. I don't think I'd want Muzzin for free, let alone taking two cap dumps with him.

I feel like, and this might just be me, the first step in the potential adjustment to make it work would be to list off one single reason why Jake Muzzin would waive his full NTC.

well what you want is irrelevent. 2 years seems like perfect term. and he would be cheap to acquire aswell. and like wrong side of 30??? the dude is 33, what is the right side, 31? veteran presence on the backend is defenitly a need for detroit. now is this the right player to target maybe not, but he checks out most boxes.

holl probable somwhere else. and maybe mrazek, muzzin and a third for future consideration. im not a big wings fans so im not sure how much of a burden it qould be to take mrazek. maybe just dump him on another trade and you could get a third for muzzin straight up (based on the keith trade)

No no no! PalHal thinks Toronto should trade Nylander for pure cap space and package him with Mrazek for literally nothing!

In truth? Future impact. Thats what any kind of cap dump would require to the wings or any team really. You have to give something that fits the opening of the competitive window. For the Red Wings 1 of two pieces come to mind either an impact center prospect (which TOR lacks) or top picks. How or what is added would depend on what other deals would be available to wings for their cap space and other teams willing to take on the leafs players.

You're right Detroit wont bite, We have no more use for Petr Mrazek. Even if Detroit had an interest in Jake Muzzin which we don't. The odds of him waiving for Detroit are o and we have no space for Holl on our rightside.

Muzzin would be a plan E or F acquisition with Pettersson, Schmidt, Martinez and several others ahead of him.

Muzzin's contract structure makes him hard to trade and he's impervious to a buy-out.

yeah i agree he is not a plan a aswell. but im sure many of the trade we see each year ends being that, plan e or F. im just saying he his probably on the radar of the Wings, not the prime candidate.

Mrazek costs at least a 2nd to dump (which is why you should just buy him out)

Holl can probably bring back a 3rd/4th to play RD3 on a contender - or you could keep paying him a relatively affordable salary to play RD3 for your contending team.

Muzzin has a full NTC so regardless of what you think of him, he's staying in Toronto until at least next summer when he loses his full NTC. He's still productive when he's been healthy, but that's the rub isn't it? Hard to imagine someone looking to take on that kind of deal unless he progresses into LTIRetirement at some point next year.
