2024 with Monahan

Created by: Bobcat205
Team: 2023-24 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 21, 2022
Published: Apr. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
-This is operating under the assumption that Monahan bounces back and has a respectable 2022-23 campaign.

-Complete with 2022 Draft picks! We take Jiricek at 5, Lambert at 12, and Ostlund slips to the 2nd round (it's always possible).

-Fix-Wolansky, Marchenko and Texier do a carousel for the 4th line right wing spot, and Voronkov gets some playing time too.

-Jiricek starts in the AHL, and will get playing time if one of our three gets injured or starts to fall off in terms of performance.

Why would Monahan lock in for 4 years at a lower AAV vs. taking a one year contract, put up better numbers, and sign a better contract?

I'd take Texier of Nyqvist if he is available.

I also think that if Ostlund does fall to the second round he won't fall to Columbus who will probably draft around 13th or 14th in each round.

Time will tell, but I have a bit more hope for Marchenko and Voronkov. Marchenko has enough potential to break into the M6; Voronkov should be a lineup regular in the B6. Also gotta give a bit more due to Danforth, who has looked pretty good.

Honestly, if we're just going to run him on the 4th line, I'd rather just trade Tex, considering there has been a good amount of demand for him, apparently.

It's just difficult to tell when doing these ACGM's that are more than one season out.

I think that if he was offered that this summer he probably would take it.

His body is messed up and is probably never going to be the same again.

3 years in a row with progressively worse production and serious injury concerns. No real certainty of a rebound and if he doesn’t it could be his last contract.
      McRanteskog liked this.
