Luke Hughes is confirmed staying in Michigan

And Devils likely won’t take Cooley/or keep him as 4RW

Meh, Canucks pass, there are better D options for them to choose from, and I don't think Hoglander is worth giving up to acquire a guy like Smith. I understand the rationale that both have undergone sophomore slumps, but I think the Canucks are higher on Hoglander's upside than they are Smith's, so the 4th round pick won't be enough to make up the valuation difference for them

This Pearson investigation may change things.
But I wouldn't plan on seeing #43 until April 2023.

The Devils passing on Cooley will break my brain. Clear number 2 imo.

NHL Central Scouting says its a two-man race for #1 overall (Wright & Cooley)
Bob McKenzie says Cooley is a real threat to overtake Wright

It seems that trusted sources are saying the same as you.

We'll see what happens after U18s

I still think Wright is the better pick at 1OA. But Cooley is the clear two and if the devils pass on him ill rip out my hair.

You can't just choose to wait 3 years before sending a pick. Make it 2023 unprotected

Arizona might need bodies, but they aren't giving up a high second rounder for two meh players.
Seattle has no interest in one year of Tatar if costs them high second rounder.

if the Devils only want that much for Ryan Graves, why not call up your old pal Uncle Lou? he HATES his draft picks and would love an affordable LD2

why not? this is clearly post-draft as he drafted Cooley here. a trade post-draft including a 23 first could absolutely reasonably have protections on it lmao

Because rarely if ever does things like this go beyond one year or the other. No gm is waiting 3 years Because you want your team to goid before sending a pick. Minnesota says no to nolan Foote. They don't have a need, room for him

But...if the the trade is after the draft...it wouldn't be beyond 1 year....

No, Minnesota Minnesota isn't taking on noolan foot whose not better than anything Minnesota has. Also there's a very good chance it will happen at draft. Minnesota will just call up Adam Beckman or sign a short gap winger in free agency. This free agency class is beyond deep.

I wasnt...talking about Nolan foote? if you don't want foote that's fine idc. but in this scenario, we literally draft Cooley so this trade very obviously doesn't happen at the draft!

Ottawa is very interested. I wouldn't be surprised I'd deal is done and happens @ draft

Don't be so certain. Slafkovsky looks like Mikko Rantanen 2.0.

I’m aware that people think this but I definitely don’t agree. He’s good, very good, but that’s quite a lofty comparison. His processing speed is a little too slow, as is his skating. I think Cooley is more dynamic, more projectable, and plays the premium position.
