A top 40-42 pick for their 5th defensemen (time on ice) seems pretty good

DeMelo is too valuable for the Jets. One of the league's TOP 10 dmen when it comes to pure defensive play. Dillon cost 2x 2nd rounder.. I wouldn't go for it as a Jets GM

Yet you play him less than 4 other defenders

The reason Jets fans love Demelo is because he's been the best partner for Morrissey since the Trouba days. A second is close, but I personally would trade Dillon,. Schmidt, and Stanley before I trade him. Morrissey has had his best season as a Jet because he's paired with the right guy instead of plug like Tucker Poolman.

Personnel misusage is a common thing in Winnipeg. The same reason why Ehlers gets under 18 minutes a night, DeMelo is played that little.

If I was the jets GM I’d say yes to this. But like others have mentioned it’s probably Dillon or Schmidt who’s dealt.

The trick is, all of those guys are left shot d. As a fan of a team with a stable of left shot d, and no right shot d- I see the value of left d, especially the bottom 4 variety that are making a little too much money. They don't have that much value at all. Right shot d? That's another story. It's funny, Bryson in this thread is characterized as a low level prospect. Bryson is gonna be 25 in November, and he's played 70 games this year, I wouldn't call him a prospect anymore. He skates well, he's obviously not big, but he's patient and underappreciated. He started playing the right side this year and hasn't looked bad doing it. Too bad he's not actually a right shot.

I don’t want to trade DeMelo but if we had to for whatever reason I’m wanting more for him. Only player on this team that can play defence
