Yeah, I seriously think Sabres could be in the playoff race with good goaltending and some luck (i.e. Bergeron retires and Boston declines a bit, etc. for example).
I agree.
Simple research;
After today's victory over the Islanders.
Prior to being placed on IR, Anderson played very poorly on November 2nd (he only made 22 saves on 27 shots) then did not play again until January 29th and made 27 saves on 29 shots.
During his absence the Sabres only won 8 of 33 games for 22 pts or 55 pts pro-rated over 82 games.
When Anderson is on the team either playing or in the bench, the Sabres are 23-19-5 or 89 pts pro-rated over 82 games.
Not quite Stanley Cup play offs but a lot closer than being a bottom team as they are now, 30 pts out of a playoff spot.
Varlamov may be the answer with a life time SB% of 0.916.
If the Sabres could play as well as they are with Tokarski and Anderson in net who have 0.901 and 0.897 SV% this year one could only imagine how well they could be with AVG GK.
IDK if Karmanos would be willing to part with this years 2nd round pick, but their could be a trade between the two teams.
