Description

The Jackets acquire two young players and a draft pick for a cap dump from Edmonton allowing them to keep key players. Edmonton acquires Nyquist who could fit anywhere in their lineup and give either Draisaitl or McDavid a high skilled winger to play with.

The Jackets draft Matthew Savoie and Rutger McGroarty.

There's nothing of value here for the Oilers. Klefbom's contract will stay on LTIR, no need to trade away two top prospects and a first rounder for an extremely underwhelming return.

Nyquist is really good. In fact, if the Oilers did acquire him, playing with McDavid or Draisaitl he could easily score 65 70 points. For a price tag of only 2 mil he would be a steal. Getting rid of Klefbom is actually very useful as it opens up that cap space and allows for the Oilers to be able to sign key players to longer term deals. But that is just one person’s view .

No point for Edmonton to do that, Klefbom is an LTIR player, Nyquist can certainly fetch a decent amount but Edmonton has no reason to move an LTIR player in Klefbom with a 1st and 2 good prospects
