Dumba Moving and Staying Competitive

Description
Fiala I think will agree to something around 7 if the term is there. So if we can lock him up for his prime at 7 for the max I would do it. He is coming into his own with Boldy and Gaudreau on the line.
- I have Rossi now on the line. I think they would try this to see if it works. If it doesn’t Gaudreau would still be a great fit there.

Dumba to Columbus. I don’t want to hear about the house, family loves it here, Guerin loves him etc. You just don’t find PPG scores like Fiala, and with Boldy needing a new contract next year and needing to keep Kirill happy with a winning team. Dumba got to go.
- You will be able to replace Dumba’s production easier then Fiala. You could go for a UFA like Braun who is solid defensively if you don’t get a guy like Spence.

The Spence, Kulikov and O’Rourke trade I think makes sense. Teams are able to address areas of need shed some cap when necessary. The Kings have a lot of RD and Minnesota LD so I think something can be worked out. Doughty coming back, Clarke in the wings spots need to open up and some solid pieces on the left could be tempting.

MAF coming back makes some sense but only at a low price. Guerin will need to use their connection to get that done. Because Flower could be great mentor for Wallstedt, who doesn’t want to listen to a future Hall of Famer. Talbot as well.

Didn’t sign Filip Johansson so that should be an additional second rounder I believe. Correct me if I’m wrong. I hope we have 4 seconds and send that 1st to Chicago. Would loves to hear feedback.

Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Ceulemans, Corson [Reserve List]
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Very good prospects. But has some developing to do in the NCAA and AHL before coming the NHL. So is a few years away. This also helps the Wild and there cap hell. If it was for one of their other prospects Wild may ask for a first instead, but high second seems fair.
CBJ
  1. Dumba, Matt
Additional Details:
An understanding of him willing to sign a long term deal, would be in place. Possibly 5x5 or 5x6, in that ballpark. Dumba fills a need for the Blue Jackets and they have the cap to sign him long term. He is a top 4 RD. No Doubt.
2.
MIN
  1. Spence, Jordan
Additional Details:
I picked Spence because he is on a ELC. Durzi could be interesting not sure what it would take to resign him so there lies the problem. He is NHL ready. And a part of the log jam on the right the Kings have.
LAK
  1. Kulikov, Dmitry
  2. O'Rourke, Ryan
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Kulikov can help them on the LD this year. O’Rourke could help them log term on the left. The 3rd is a sweetener because Spence can help this year. O’Rourke is apart of our log jam on the left. So both teams get help while addressing areas of need.

I agree with you that Dumba or maybe even Fiala are the one of the two players to be moved this summer for cap space. But to base a trade on an extension rarely happens a year away from UFA. Though I think your offer by CBJ is fair, I just doubt if a signed or agreed to extension would be part of the deal.

I like the Dumba trade and agree that they will do just about anything they can to keep Fiala. Although I do think Fiala may get a bit more money than that and same with Fleury. They can definitely make it work though I think they're just gonna have to decide between Middleton and Fleury realistically if they want to keep Fiala.

Is Spence really worth all that? The Dumbs trade is great if Columbus agrees and if Columbus isn't on Dumba's M-NTC.

Middleton can get more. Maybe he agrees to a team friendly deal for next 3 years because he likes it here.

I agree Deslauries should be re-signed he keeps Foligno in the game, unless Duhaime hits the gym and trains to become a better enforcer.

No taxi squad next year so I'm not sure if that's your AHL rotation of guys that get call ups. My point though is that Bjugstad at that price will get claimed off waivers.

I used the taxi squad to show some of the guys I think could get called up next. Kinda like right now we are seeing with the 4th line.

Do you think Durzi would be a more realistic target? Just thinking that with the prospect depth their for LA and their need for some help on the left now and the future. And the Wilds need on the right and depth on the left something could be arranged.

I was thinking with the max term for Fiala he may go a bit more team friendly, about 7. Anything short AAV would be higher. I think they find away to resign Middleton. He was been fantastic with Spurgeon brings extra coarse sandpaper to every game. But isn’t as much of a threat on offense. So that might hurt his AAV a touch. And with Fleury I’m hoping Guerin can pull some we played together card. Because Fleury isn’t coming back because he has bills to pay at this point it has to be a love for the game and yea I’ll take a big check as well. So he might be willing to go team friendly.

Got some good feedback on the Dumba trade, makes sense. And yes a PPG guy coming into his own Guerin needs to do whatever he needs too these guys don’t just come around and their is no guarantee any prospect or pick you get will end up as good or better. So play the odds and pay him.
