Poverty Franchise next season

Created by: JackSC87
Team: 2022-23 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 24, 2022
Published: Apr. 24, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team will be bad for a while. There is a very real chance that Kane will be traded, and if that happens, maybe even Debrincat too. I didn't do that in this because it would be impossible to predict what kind of return they would get.

Out of curiosity - is this just to wait until the Kane and Toews salaries come off the books?

Hawks aren't sending assets for Mrazek. They could have claimed him off waivers for free if they wanted to. If TOR is sending picks/prospects...ok it depends on what that looks like.

He's a leafs fan. They still seem to think Mrazek isn't a cap dump. lol

As bad as Mrazek has been, he still has better numbers than Lankinen.

Sure. But he also has a $3.8mil cap hit. If we wanted a mediocre goaltender we'd just resign our own for way cheaper. Plus, Lankinen is still younger and newer to the league, he still has potential to be explored, while Mrazek pretty much is what he is at this point.

No problem. Reilly gets dealt for a pick. 8m. Foligno gets bought out 10m. Debrusk still wants out, move for a pick. 14m.

Reality is the only thing they need to do is sign Bergy.

Considering that the asking price for Kubalik at the deadline was a 2nd round pick, you are 2 pieces too high. Mrazek is a cap dump for Toronto, so they would have to pay to get him out. The only time Mrazek wasn’t a cap dump would be his time in Carolina, when his numbers got inflated by the Canes dcore playing in front of him.

Lankinen has put up .887 SV% and 3.62 GAA this season. He's being paid $800K and is an RFA this summer, probably tops out around $1M for next season.

Mrazek has an .888 SV% and 3.34 GAA. He's on the hook for 2 more seasons with a $3.8M cap hit (and actually gets paid more real dollars in those 2 seasons because of how his contract is backloaded.)

You really think that extra .001 is worth Chicago spending an extra $3M *and* giving up their 4th?

is this a troll post? No qualms if it is just Mrazek is a bad deal and CHI shouldn't go anywhere near it unless paid to do so.
