Whooooof. Paying Dobson more than Hughes would be hilarious. Love Dobson, but wow.

love Dobson but woof that's expensive and makes the Canucks easy targets on the receiving end of offer sheets with guys like Pettersson, Podkolzin, Hoglander and Rathbone. Like the Boeser trade a lot too

Myers, Dickinson and Pearson should be gone soon . This team will be good for many years. And you have a nice pick in the 2022 draft too. Maybe have Seamus Casey as the future 2nd pair guy

Yeah, he's a beauty. Plays at the same golf course as me in the summer...super nice kid. Hilarious story-I've got a pal that worked in the bar at the clubhouse last year. Lots of pro hockey players play out here in the summer, so there'd always be a bunch of drunk jocks around being loud and acting like a-holes. I can't remember whether it was the year before, or the year he got drafted, but he'd take his mom out golfing with him when they were talking to potential agents/team reps/etc. Even now, when he goes into the clubhouse to get a drink, he's the quietest, nicest kid on the course.

That’s great. Where’s the best place to meet hockey players in the off-season ?

This is a beauty. I like offer sheet ideas. Maybe even someone like Dach.

Move out Miller, Poolman, Dickinson and with Pearson and Myers expiring the following year, there are no offer sheet concerns. Canucks could match any.

Someone wants to go nuts on Hoglander? Go ahead. OS Petey or Pod, sure we'll easily match.

I wish the offer sheets were more of a thing. Maybe this contract is nuts. I think it would have to be a year or two for Dobson to keep him an RFA and sign him longer than 5 years soon after rather than walk him to UFA at 27.

We're super small, obviously, but PEI has been pretty solid. Lots of top notch golf around, people who couldn't give two F*cks if you're a superstar or a lobster fisherman, and the weather is great for a couple of months a year. Greatest Sen of all time, Dion Phaneuf, lives about 10 minutes away from me and usually has a crew of players around (He built his own gym, and a bunch of fellas used to stay there to train in the summer). Crosby is over for a few rounds every summer...bunch of fringy guys around that I grew up with that have some of the AHL boys around (Gallant brothers). I've got monthly poker game/weekly round of golf with a guy who was an exec producer for HNIC for 25 years, then ran the show for the Blue Jackets on Fox Sports Ohio for a bunch of years as well. He was a regular at the bar I used to work at, which is in the same hotel that a bunch of Leafs/Flames stayed at the year Dion and Elisha Cuthbert got married...Was pretty wild...Brian Burke was there too, and heactually seemed like a great dude.

Also, my gut reaction is that Lou matches that offer sheet. I feel like he'd prefer to kick the can with a bridge deal but if you forced his hand, $8.22M is fine to pay for Dobson's age 22 through 26 seasons.

Columbus declines easily. No chance they trade Cuelamens. Columbus can score, they suck defensively. No reason for them to trade their best defensive prospect and a solid defensive forward for another, slightly worse Laine version of Laine.

I think they’ll draft Jiricek then this trade would make more sense

Islanders Legend Brett Gallant???

Yahhhhh buddy! Fun fact: My last year of playing Midget, Brett and the HC of the AAA team didn't get along, so he quit and sat out most of the season. Ended up being "allowed" to go play in an off-island AA tourney. The coach of the AAA team found out, complained to hockey PEI, and the AA coach ended up getting suspended for a full year because of it. Hilarious. The oldest Gallant brother (Brad) was by far the most talented of the 3 brothers, but ended up only playing a couple of games in the CHL, before moving home to play a bit of senior hockey. Actually played against him in a tournament this weekend tears of joy

It still doesn’t make sense. If jackets are going to move a high end prospect it would be for a center

Not really, Columbus doesn’t need more wings, Boeser would be the 3rd line RW, Laine and Bjorkstrand are better and more consistent, that doesn’t even include other wings Columbus already has like Voracek, Johnson, Nyquist, and Texier. Also Columbus has Chinakov, Foudy, and Marchenko who will likely need to get some NHL ice time next season.

I could see Columbus being interested in Miller (with an extension) as he’d be a 1c for them, but I can’t see them being interested in Boeser.

I don’t think that’s enough to get Boeser but it’s close and that’s a huge overpay for Dobson. He’s a good player that showed his potential this year but he’s not even worth Hughes money. I’d say around 6m would get it done

Only if the isles clear some cap at the draft, they currently don’t have the cap space to match 6m so it could work

I think NYI is fine for cap space. CF currently has them at 12M in space next year with 18 guys on the roster.

Add in a potential deal shipping Varlamov out, NYI will be fine.
