Description
I'm all for patience but some opportunities might be too good to pass up. Barring overpay, I'm willing to acquire PLD as it's unlikely habs can find such a player in the 20-30 range.
With a bit of luck and a couple good trades, that's a dream scenario of a quicker rebuild without sacrificing the future too much.

Dubois is untouchable and this doesn't make the Jets rethink that. If the Jets were moving Dubois to Montreal it would involve Suzuki going back to Winnipeg.

That's an easy no from the Jets.

PLD will sign. Elliot admitted he just made that up like he does with all his thoughts. Arbitration eligible RFA... "if they don't sign long term the team may look to trade them." He's the king of passing his own opinion off as something of relevance. His column is literally just his thoughts on things.

With Dahlin moving to RD Buffalo doesn't need Petry, And Pierre-Luc Dubois would cost Nick Suzuki for starters.

Suzuki is so much better than Dubois period.

Yeah Suzuki is close, but Dubois is better as he is big enough that he doesn't have to avoid physical play like Suzuki always tries to.

You obviously know how good Dubois is, since you're trying to acquire him.

If it starts with Suzuki, it also ends with him.
He is already outpacing PLD in production, while playing all situations with less favorable deployment. There's no reason to make that trade 1-for-1, let alone add.

Dahlin on the left and pairing with someone younger may not be ideal. For the sake of 11 spots in the latter half of the round (or swapping a 2nd for a 3rd, from another thread), it could be a better idea.
The cost is low enough for there to be a potential profit from flipping Petry later, and you get a veteran partner for either defender in the meantime, while also keeping Dahlin on his strong side.
Not that I think Montreal should do it, but Buffalo should be interested at that price.

Wrong Pierre-Luc Dubois has far better numbers then Nick Suzuki. And Winnipeg isn't moving one of their young Cs without it being very costly.

The max habs give is A bottom 16 first, a top 6 potential prospect (Roy, Farrell) another mid pick (2nd or 3rd round) and a decent roster player like Dvorak or Anderson.

      Habs Receive:

      Pierre-Luc Dubois

      Jets Receive:

      CGY 2022 1st
      Sean Farrell
      MTL 2022 3rd Round pick
      Christian Dvorak

Sure go ahead and offer that, There's no way in the world that's the winning bid for Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Where did you get the idea Pierre-Luc Dubois won't want to sign in Winnipeg?
The guy might be the most untouchable player on our roster right now, there's no chance we're moving him for that return. If you're desperate for a top 6 centerman, we can talk Scheifele. But Dubois is off the table.

My guy, Eichel got Tuch, Krebs and a mid-1st (which was expected to be a low 1st)

If Dubois can get Dvorak, a low 1st and a prospect like Farrell/Kidney/Mailloux... thats a win

Probably not, but I will tell you now: Caufield and Suzuki are better than Dubois, so they aren't on the table. Our first this year will give us a player with a bigger ceiling than Dubois, so that's not being traded. And Guhle, Barron, Romanov are too important for us, even if they have less value than PLD, so they are off the table as well.
