I feel there is a bit to much hype around Kuzmenko and I have been a victim in the past of guys like this

Where they do good in the KHL

We get excited

Comes to NHL

And either disappears or barely contributes.

Now sometimes you get that diamond in the rough but most times its contract termination back to KHL kind of situation or stuck in AHL/4th line

But hey its a 50/50 chance he does good or bad

Negative. As of May 1st, he would be eligible to sign the same sort of deal as Artemi Panarin with a huge bonus attached to and ELC salary.

Sabres have a ton of cap space to give a player like this a two year trial before they have to worry about signing Dahlin and Power to their next contracts. Look at how well Artemi Panarin worked out.

Asplund slander

I do not understand why some people are in love with Asplund. He's showing improvement but still has a lot to prove. His record is not that of any elite prospect and its not like he won't rotate through the lineup over the course of the year.

Its not a question of cap space its a question of will his game translate as when you look at KHL guys who come over some adapt but often the majority do not and are either reduced to 4th liners not contributing much or have their contracts terminated and head back to the KHL.

Panarin was 1 of many KHL guys who came over and succeeded yes. Others include Mikheyev, Barabanov, Zaitsev (to some degree), Romanov, and Kapriszov

But then you got guys like Jaskin, Semyonov, Lehtonen, Shipachyov, Nesterov, Marchenko who failed

Shipachyov situation could very well happen with Kuzmenko as Shipachyov was right up there with him as one of the KHL's best scorers and it just didnt work out.
