Sharks with either Marchment or Nichushkin and a Labanc Buy Out

Created by: CheechYou
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 27, 2022
Published: Apr. 27, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Team needs a top-6 big-bodied forward to link with Couture and Eklund to round out the top two lines. It'll be interesting to see that 3rd line next season after all the games Gregor put under his belt the last few seasons and progressively getting better and better, and if Bordeleau can put up some size (he will -- he's still growing), this could be a playoff-bound team if injuries don't get in the way. Hopefully Merkley takes that next step too (again, after putting on some size -- he will).

I like Stome but unless he takes a team friendly deal he could be dangerous.
also never in any way should Bordeleau ever be on the 4th line. to skilled and too small he’s a top 9 guy only.
other concern is you now essentially blocked Robins Gushin Coe and Weisblatt from their chances at the NHL club for the foreseeable future. and handcuffed us from signing Meier.
this is also brutal for our dead cap looking at almost 7 this year 5 next the almost 8 and almost 9. that’s hurts our cup chances for the next 4-5 years

Sharks should also be playing better line mates with Couture. Bonito and Nieto are FAR from Top 6 winger options

Yeah, I listed alternate (arguably better and definitely more logical at first glance) line combinations in the description.

Even though I found the decision to pair Cooch with those two players literally laughable when I first saw that BB was going to have them together a few games ago, I have to admit, I've been pleasantly surprised at its success. Defensively sound, of course, but even Bonino -- the same offensive black-hole Bonino -- has looked good offensively the last few games and has even scored a few times himself to show for it. There could be something there, especially if it gives the kind of excellent depth throughout the 3rd/4th lines like it does here. Or it could be temporary success -- I fully acknowledge that.

I dont love Strome. Vlasic buyout is fine buy probably they wait a year. Lebanc i think you could get something for him if you retained.

This team need scoring wingers on short term deals. if Nieto and Bonino are on lIne 2 this team is headed back to the draft lottery. they have to be 4th liners for this to be a playoff team.

By popular demand, as well as because these are all valid points and I think I agree given that a Strome signing would be a relatively long-term deal and Sharks have Robins/Coe 1 year away probably, Bonino/Nieto are 4th liners, Vlasic buy out makes more sense the following year, here's an updated roster with these inputs.
