Not really. He's a huge reach at 15. He doesn't even look like a first round pick right now. Most people have him in the late 1st or early to mid 2nd. Other D-men available here that I'd definitely pick ahead of Salomonsson (in that order): Mateychuk, Mintyukov, Bichsel, Nelson, Korchinski, Chesley, Forsmark, Pickering, Casey, Odelius, Kyrou, Hävelid and Lamoureux. And Lindgren, Hutson, Koromyslov, Warren and Grudinin are a few spots behind Salomonsson.

His brother Morgan plays for the Kraken.

Morgan was claimed in the expansion draft and has flourished since then.



If there were to be an off-the-board pick in this draft, it would be this one.

Especially when Ron Francis could use some good PR that would rehabilitate his image after tanking in the first season of the franchise.

Your only real reason is the brother connection and except if it's someone like L. Hughes (who was supposed to go that high), you don't take someone because he has a brother on your team at 4OA. Every single player until 12 is probably more likely to go that high than Geekie. The concerns in his game prevent him from going that high.

i don't see the islanders (or anyone else) taking miroshnichenko that high with the health concerns. i like mateychuk or casey at that spot, maybe mešar.
