Prospect Pool After Draft

Description
NHL Draft Selection
1st RD
#15 - Nathan Gaucher - Power forward mentality, good stats in the QMJHL. I like the idea of drafting a forward that could be like Toffoli or Blake Coleman.

Lines below are having them ranked as best in their position.
-Perfetti and Baron have been wingers with the jets organization though listed as centers
-I hope jets can sign Chibrikov and bring him over, showing a lot of potential
-Rashevsky will be their biggest hit/miss, puts up crazy stats in KHL but will that transition to NHL performance?

Lucius should be fun to watch next year in the WHL as Portland should have a good team next year. The Moose would be good too.

Portland owns his WHL rights and the Jets have the option of sending him there.

I thought if he signs a pro contract he has to be in ECHL, AHL or NHL

According to Chris Peters (Daily Faceoff), he can be in the AHL or WHL.

I believe the Jets have the choice in his case because he was in the NCAA. Normally he would still be too young to play anywhere other than the CHL (Like Perfetti this year if it weren't for his covid exemption)

I hope the Jets sign Tyrel Bauer before June 1. He stood out at this year's training camp to me. Obviously an extreme long shot to make the NHL

I find it funny that an 18 year old can play in the NHL but isn't allowed to be in the AHL. After seeing what Perfetti did in the AHL in his first year I think it benefited him a lot more than if he had to be in the OHL another year. Plus from a revenue standpoint, I believe it would benefit the pro leagues to see more of that age group talent in the lower level pro leagues.

Gopher fans were speculating before he signed that Lucius might enter the transfer portal because his family wasn't happy about how he was being handled. Who knows if it is true, though if it is then Portland could be a real possibility (i.e.: family thinks better to go junior than stay or transfer). If it isn't true then I suspect the Moose would be more likely.

What worries me more about Chaz is his injury history, kid has not been lucky the last little while

Agreed. We'll find out more when he meets the media on Friday, though he might just give the stock answer of "I'll go wherever the team thinks is best" so we might have to wait for the media to question Chevy on Monday.

Chevy and Maurice are the masters of saying nothing with great conviction.

I agree, but the revenue point is actually why the rule exists: CHL teams have want to be able to get those high end guys with them a year or two longer to attract people to games. The new CHL/NHL agreement could change that though

Jets need to draft RHD, not a forward…. I’m looking at Elias Salomonsson or Ty Nelson
The fact our idiot coaching staff plays our young Cs at wing doesn’t mean they should be played there… just that we need a new coaching staff
Perfetti needs to be tried at 2C
Barron should be at 3/4C
