Detroit declines. Yzerman isn't giving up all that for a rental.

Detroit passes, JT Miller reportedly wants the Zibanejad deal $8,500,000 x 8 years he will be 30 years old when that deal kicks in. And Yzerman will need to resign Larkin plus give big money to Seider and Raymond. Detroit isn't an expensive Miller away from competing for the playoffs and eventual cup.

I think that is debatable. I said there still would be enough cap space to re-sign Miller and I'm sure he won't have the leverage to ask for that kind of money or term

Really almost a 100 point season, And you don't think he wont have the leverage to ask for that kind of money and term, I totally disagree he will have all the leverage in the world to ask for that kind of money and term.

If he doesn't have the leverage for that kind of contract, how do the Canucks have leverage for this kind of return?

Detroit declines.

Miller is 30 years old and is not a long term solution for anyone. He only has one year left on his contract and would be the oldest player on Detroit.

That isn't what Detroit is looking for. There will be options in FA for a 2C that will work until a long term solution is found in the draft.

Because his production still is what it is

But everyone knows he won't be a consistent 100 point player moving forward, so it doesn't make sense that he will

Your right, his production is what it is....so how many 100 point players signing small contracts? You want to have it both ways but like you said, it is what it is.

Yeah he's by far having a career year here, Even if he consistently put up around 60-70 points per season which i think he will that still gets him at least $7,000,000 per year.

Noway would Brock Boeser agree to sign for $6,000,000 x 3 years with the islanders. New Yorks high taxes would eat most of that money.

Uhhhh a few of b prospects and some 2nds? If I’m Detroit I’d do this trade all day then immediately flip miller 50% retained for a haul twice as big. This is Pennies on the Dollar for miller’s actual trade value

7M a season for Miller sounds pretty palatable to me

His production will likely decline a bit but it will still be quite high

Not if one presumes that Miller's offensive production dips a bit when he gets into his 30's

He has a full season left. Teams will pay a lot for a one year rental of a point per game player at $2.65 million

If jt miller ever went to Detroit he could be the clear 1c and it wouldn’t be close, but that package wouldn’t even get you Boeser let alone miller.

True but the only way you could even try to argue that larkin is better than miller is if you don’t watch hockey

Okay, okay, you've made your point. Now that I actually look at Larkin's numbers, you're right, it's pretty hard to argue against
