I thought about a Holtz + roster player.
But it sounded like they could do full rebuild (meaning multiple years).
So I opted for prospects with later window in Stillman (ETA 2023-24) and Gritsyuk (ETA 2023-24).

That doesn't get DeBrincat, And if he's available Yzerman will be looking at bringing him home. And offer a better deal than this.

I'd think holtz or Mercer would be part of the deal but that 1st rounder is going to be very attractive.

I disagree. I like him.
Not the quickest release, but a shooter.
And plays physical game.

I do not get it AT ALL.

2022 1st round pick (DET - #8)
Jonatan Berggren
Sebastian Cossa
Pius Suter

Closest I could come up with above deal...

Yzerman will be looking at bringing him home

Debrincat's home is Michigan
Debrincat's wife's home is New Jersey

I'd call it a toss-up

Zacha has a higher shots per game than Kunin, but if you are just looking for hits, why are you trading a player like Boqvist for it? If you want hits, go sign Nicolas Deslauriers for the 4th line.

I feel like I have seen enough of Kunin to know what he is. I don’t believe he is a top-6 guy. But I am expecting a little more physicality, shot-blocking from our wingers…without sacrificing too much offense. Seems like a good fit to me.

Cossa is off the table, Needs to be another piece. Probably an expendable LD.

Perhaps she was born in New Jersey, But she grew up in Clarkston, Michigan which is my Sister in laws home town as well.

I get wanting what he brings, but his tools aren't translating to anything good. He was 1st percentile in WAR/xWAR for EH this year and 3rd percentile the last 3. His microstats (besides hits) are also really underwhelming. only notably good at deflections and forechecking (but not at recovering the puck not he forecheck).

I get wanting that profile, but I feel like there's a better player who doesn't cost Boqvist out there.

Kunin has a decent shot, but his game is more than just shot volume. Physicality, shot-blocking, can go to dirty areas just as easily as high slot. I think our lineup misses some of those attributes. Plays heavy game.

I feel like it'd be Holtz /or/ the top 5 pick but not both.

it would 100% start with holtz and a first debrincat is a 40 goal scorer that is 24 you can rebuild and start competing when hes 28 if you do it properly they have no need to move him unless the package is to good to pass up

That's fine. I'm just telling you what I think the Devils would think.

I think you might be sleeping a tad on Gritsyuk though. And, perhaps, underestimating how long a rebuild would take.

If I am CHI, I definitely as for the moon, as the cap hit won't hold them back. The only thing having a great player like ADB is he may stop them from being the worst team....

Chicago will land big time free agents in two years when at the very least they stop paying Toews, they may stick with Kane. Although....that Seth Jones contract hasn't even started...

Pretty solid analysis. Feel like CHI might want Holtz rather than one of Stillman/Gritsyuk, but definitely plausible in theory. Well done.

I'd ask for it to. I just don't think Fitz would do both.

leafs are not giving up anything good for a guy who would cost less than a mill on the cap to buy out
