Tell me when a 24 year old healthy star was traded , franchise cornerstone was traded period. If Eichel was healthy , the package would’ve been much higher and Eichel also wanted out. If a team wants Debrincat they’d have to wow Chicago with at least 2 really strong young pieces to help the rebuild considering they’ve lost a 1st this year too

When was the last time an elite 24 year old with one year left on a attractive deal and a RFA was traded? Don't use Eichel either as he was injured, stuck in a public contencious debate with his team, a UFA IN 4 years and one of the top 5 highest cap hits in the league.

Laine, Heatley, Kessel, Duchene, Carter, Neal, Skinner, Kovalev, Leclair , Hossa, Arnott, Almonte, Selanne, Juneau, Renberg, Recchi, Smolinski, Bure, Boyes, Mogilny....

Elite wingers get traded often. Star wingers pretty much every year.
Top-5 picks never get traded...especially along with top prospects.

stepan and raanta for 7th overall and deangelo is the closest to top 5 i remember

The closest comp would be Jeff Carter deal in 2011

Philly got Voracek, #8 pick (Couturier) and 3rd rounder.

(Carter also had 11 years remaining on his deal)

We probably buyout or use mrazek in a trade down trade. Leafs like Voit alot

Honestly, I just picked the youngest prospect from Leafs signed pool.
Should have said in blurb, "prospect"

You don't think Chicago would want a high lottery pick from NJ? I dont anyone is giving a lottery pick for 2023 away with bedard out there.

Not in this draft id say only cooley, wright and naz are the only ones who have a chance at becoming a star like debrincat maybe last years draft a lottery pick is good but this is a really weak class so a first this year doesnt have a much value as past years

A few players you included aren't elite guys, 24 years old or younger, or in the post cap era such as Duchene who wasn't elite at the time and who was 26 years old as well. The closest one in recent times was Laine and Duboius went back which was basically a change of scenery

lmao i guess they're going to have to risk it if they want debrincat. The hawks won't settle.

I didn't have to time to look 'em all up...so I am sure some of the names may be off. And I'm sure I forgot many as well.

But the point was in rebuttal to belief that 24-yr old star wingers never get traded.
They do. More often than top-5 picks.

Never said it never happens, but it is pretty rare for a 24 year old elite goal scorer in good standing with his team, no injury history, on a bargain of a contract still and a RFA at the end of the term. Point is, it's going to be a haul to get Cat and a pick outside of the top 2 positions in this year's draft (suggesting pick number 5 where NJD are at), doesn't hold the same value as a top 10 pick in most years including next year so to say a top 5 pick (again as it stands #5) is deceiving this year. Not a chance the hawks should take this offer with the assumption it's the #5 pick in 2022; anything outside top 2 is a really dumb move for Chicago.
