i highly doubt necas takes less then 3.5 mill, most likely will want 4-4.5 mill. if carolina gets cap tight and does the bratt OS wouldn't be surprised if someone just went out and OS Necas just enough that carolina couldn't match.

though bratt is very good is he worth losing out on trocheck, nino and potentially necas? 3 top 6 players for 1 seems like a bad trade

A. Why the Gardiner for Bishop swap?
B. Definitely not trading Kiovunen to get Glendening.
C. Dont want Hathaway anywhere near this team.
D. NJ thinks about it then matches the offer sheet, fairly easily.

1. I figured if Gardiner returns, he would put CAR in cap trouble. Bishop isn't returning. Its $4 million+ of cap savings and $2 million of real money savings.
2. Glendening is to help replace Stepan. Good on faceoffs.
3. I like Hathaway, but with Lorentz on bench, that one could be undone
4. If Trochek leaves, they slide Kotkaniemi to 2C, and buy a winger to replace top-6 role. At $8.2 million, I don't think Jersey matches. They need picks

Wouldn't the Canes be miles better off, spending 8.2m on other (players) and keeping their picks? If I'm Jersey, I don't match, and spend another 1.8m and sign UFA Gaudreau and then have those three picks from Carolina.

Devils would match that offer sheet for Bratt. It might be around $1.5million a year higher than they would like, but they'll still match it.

The Devils don't need anymore picks, especially ones that are going to be at the bottom of each round.
They need players like Bratt, young point producers that can play now.
