Norlinder Can be replaced by any prospect that is not: Roy, Guhle, Barron, Harris, and mailloux (Players like Caufield and Romanov are not prospects anymore)

Would you take that package for Nick Suzuki?

If I decided as a GM to but Suzuki on the block, and that's my offer, I would be pretty ok with this, maybe a little more but Zuki>PLD

The Jets aren't trading Dubois, but if they were, a cap dump, a low end LD prospect and two late firsts aren't anywhere close.

By this comment you basically killed the whole purpose of the trade.

"We want Dubois but we don't want to give out quality pieces / pieces that WPG might be interested in"

Your final offer consists of a cap dump, meh prospect, two low first round picks and a low second.

Ask yourself - what kind of package would you want for Suzuki? Would you really accept that kind of offer for him? Probably not.

Dubois has pretty similar value to Suzuki, so basically you should only make an offer for Dubois you'd accept for Suzuki as well.

This is it, everyone. This is the final offer - no more PLD offers after this one.

Offer declined.

I feel like getting into a debate about Suzuki vs. Dubois with a Habs fan would be a waste of time for both of us tears of joy

Regardless, I wouldn't do it. I'd need something higher-end coming back if I were Winnipeg, and would imagine that a Dubois trade isn't something where they sit back and say "Alright, futures that won't be playing for us for at least 4 years, and yet another LD!"

Jets decline, Dubois probably has a similar contract that Suzuki got on the table as soon as the season ends.

If you want PLD, one of the guys on that list is gone. Including potentially Caufield and Romanov, honestly.

PLD is a former 3rd overall pick who, I would say, has lived up to that billing (re-do that 2016 draft, the only players I put ahead of him are Matthews, DeBrincat, & Adam Fox; then put him, Tkachuk, and Laine as pretty much equals.) He's going to cost money, sure, but when you consider Winnipeg gave up Laine & Roslovic to get him, you're not going to turn around and acquire him without premium assets going back.

You're offering two late 1st rounders, a late 2nd rounder, a former 3rd rounder who's at the back end of your team's top 10 prospects, and a cap dump. Not a lot of stuff I'd call premium there.

If you don't want to give up Montreal's 1st rounder, the deal probably has to start with Caufield & Calgary's 1st and maaaaybe you get the Jets to listen. But not this.

i would 100% tkachuk above him, and players like mcavoy too. i have high opinion on dubois but he seems to procude more like a high end 2c than a 1c. he is pretty young and things could change but i feel i am underwelmed a bit about his offensive performeance in the last few years. i agree this offer is probably not right dor the jets, but im not convinced dubois is 100% a star 1c like people claim he is. He might be one day though.

forgot about McAvoy! that 2016 draft 1st round is wild when you look at it pick-by-pick - some major busts and some surprise sleepers.

but yeah, PLD is still a strong player who's lived up to being a lottery pick. I agree that you might want a little more out of him, but he's 23 years old and the -worst- description i would give him is a super-high-end 2C. He's not quite a slam dunk franchise center, you're right, but I still think you can be a playoff contender with him at 1C.

Dubois would cost a premium piece and someone with high potential.
They gave up Laine (premium scorer with consistency issues) and Roslovic (good potential, but stimied and slow to get there).
Caufield and Roy for example, might be the start of something. Not a road Montreal should go down.
Dubois is a "nice to have" player, but his market value will be higher than his performance value. If he were one of the final pieces of the puzzle, you'd consider it. Montreal is not at the stage to be chasing big acquisitions.

Adding a C in the draft could negate the need for such a move. The defense is heavily in flux with a lack of depth at RD. The goaltending is a question mark. All that needs to be resolved before addressing needs through trade/UFA.

Two late firsts and a late second….its good quantity. It’s good overall value. I just think there needs to be something of high end value in there.

laugh laugh On what planet is that a fair offer for PLD? Like i've stated on many posts. That offer gets blown away by half of the league.
