I don’t really like that Sens trade . Having to take Dickinson plus give up to younger players with potential I think is too much

You can't trade Miller, Boeser, and Garland without getting a long-term partner for Hughes. It also makes zero sense to trade both Boeser and Garland anyways.

Garland and his cap hit would likely fit nicely with the Sens need for another top 6 forward, however, I don't see them giving up on the cost-benefit of Joseph and his speed to get it, as well I think Connor Brown still has top 6 potential for another year or two, however, I would be willing to move JDB for it. Take Dickerson and Joseph out of the deal and I would do that. Gives the Sens a nice potential top 9 of:

Thachuck - Noris - Garland
Formenton (or another off season move) - Stuzle - Batherson
Joseph - Pinto - Brown

You had me interested until I saw Mathieu Joseph in there.

Ottawa declines.

Caps pass. They have a 4 year plan with Ovi. They can't go all in for 1 year. They would be interested in Garland though.

I agree that trade is absolutely terrible… Washington won’t waste the future for a rental

I concur with my fellow Caps fans on this, Washington won't be going all in on this move.

You don't see JBD or Sergachev being a long-term partner for Hughes?

Not Sergachev and they may want more of a sure thing than JBD

TB very reasonably can be going for 4 if that's the case you stand a better chance of having a snow storm in Tampa in August than that trade happening even if they aren't its a coin toss at best . Quite clearly prospects amd picks are low on the totem pole of priorities
