Not enough.

A middling NHLer a fairly promising C prospect and a mid-late 1st is pretty fair for Girard.

Edit: not even sure I'd call Yam "middleing". He hasn't been very good aside from a short burst near the end of this season. But I guess we'll see how he performs in the Playoffs too.

C prospect? You mean last year's 1st round pick who led his draft in goal scoring this season? And middling pretty accurately describes Girard actually - undersized, meh left defensemen don't have much value to a team like Edmonton who has plenty of lefties already. No thanks!

Barrie v Girard

5v5 on-ice rels

5v5 individual rates

All strengths individual

They have similar underlying numbers, but Barrie outperforms his underlying numbers while Girard underperforms his. Barrie also is better offensively. Girard is more expensive and smaller.

Keep him. He's overrated.

Sure. But not having a need for him is subjective and trade value is a separate thing. Not to mention Girard plays the opposite side and is 7 years younger than Barrie. Also, by "C" I meant Center.

Left defensemen have less value, and even less to Edmonton.

Barrie is 7 years older but he was better at 23 and is still getting better results than Girard.

Bourgault is a winger in the Q. And a good one. Him + 1st + Yamamoto (20 goals, 40 points while being good without the puck) is the equivalent of three 1sts (at least), which is an overpay for an undersized defender who isn't special offensively.
