Yes, it's because it's Toronto, but I swear I would laugh even if it was another canadian market thinking they would have a chance against a healty TB team in the first round.

The most positive I can say is that at least TOR will not choke in a game 7 again this year too.

It’s actually tragic, the best leafs team on paper going into playoffs in recent memory and unfortunately they’re running into a juggernaut that knows how to win in ten playoffs. Two opposite sides of the spectrum, 1 team knows how to win in the playoffs and the other has no idea how to win in the playoffs.

People doubting Toronto because Tampa won back to back cups

So did Pittsburgh and they lost to Washington after being the clear favourites

No team is invincible

Its anyone's game at this point

Leafs should watch how the NYI play against Tampa as thats the formula to go for IMO

I think Tampa and Toronto play a similar type of hockey, possession, skill based, and fast. It’s not like they have to be the islanders and counter them with a heavy, defensive, counter attacking style. They tend to do better against teams that play their game, not against teams that don’t. It showed against Boston, Montreal, and Columbus. Those teams frustrated them with their goaltending, heavy defensive play, and counter attacking style. If the leafs just stick to their game, they can win this series. They have the offensive weapons that I’m sure will shine in this series no matter what. It will be an entertaining series for sure, and it’s the leafs game, what their best at.

Leafs in 7

This chart sums things up pretty well

Only thing I can confidently say is the series is going 6 to 7 games

The NYI formula? So you mean a mix of no star power, deep foward group, grit and above average goaltending?

Yeah, NYI are the total opposite of TML.

Yet Toronto has been shown to play a very similar style to the NYI that has given Tampa problems numerous times in multiple games against multiple opponents.

Its not the team its the style of play

Toronto when they are in the zone play a solid 2-way style of hockey, people often dont realize that and only discuss games where Leafs lack to motivation to do some damage.

Then you got the hidden fact, Toronto had the best record against teams in a playoff position in the Atlantic division this year.

They play well they will be fine.

Toronto is 22nd for goals allowed, 22nd for hits and 29th for giveaways.

In order for our GA to have gone back to top 10 Campbell would have had to get shutouts in each of his last 5 starts.

Didnt know Campbell made that many giveaways 🙄

When you play hurt you dont think straight especially with a rib injury

But now hes back came off a shutout his last game and is ready to party

After all last time he played Tampa only allowed 2 goals on 34 shots

I 100% agree with your first comment. TBL lost to CBJ a few years back too. Anything is possible, BUT that chart?!?! Hopefully ZERO Leafs players are looking at that. It's a bunch of garbage in the playoffs. That's how you lose playoff series. It's a VERY different style of hockey. Much more physical, not as many penalties. Matthews is a stud. He's going to have to carry this team...and he's capable.

Oh I agree its just to sum up how they compare going in

To me Toronto should go watch the tape of how they played April 4th against Tampa. As to me that is the definition of perfect TML hockey. As that was arguably one of their best games of the season. Campbell made the stops, big boys showed up and we kept pace physically and defensively.

Also watching a bit of how CBJ and NYI play against them wouldnt hurt either for them

As to me we lock it down and the big boys play well. This is gonna be a fun series. But if they play with 0 motivation or what I like the call the laid back laziness Tampa is gonna stomp them down to reality
