Description

I’ve seen a few ACGMs suggesting if the Habs don’t get 1st through the lottery they trade up to get Wright. While I’m happy to keep whatever pick the hockey gods deem fit I thought I’d suggest something different, trading down. Let’s say the Habs end up with the 3rd pick and Wright and Cooley go 1 and 2? The Jackets want Slafkovsky and Habs decide they like Jiricek enough to give up the 3rd pick(most mocks got him going 6th or 7th).

If Columbus is trading up I hope they go for Nemec or Cooley, I like Slaf, but we need a RHD and Center more than we need more wings.

Fair enough, that’s also who I’d want the Habs to target if they don’t get the 1st pick.

If we are trading down, why are we adding? It should be strictly 2nd or 3rd for 6th + 12th otherwise it's not worth our time. We shouldn't be adding basically 2 more 1sts. IF we did decide to trade the pick (not a great idea IMO especially being in Montreal) wouldn't it be better to package it for a young top 6 center?

I am actually hoping CBJ wins the #2 pick, imagine if they got Cooley @ 2 them Nemec or Jiricek fall to #7

it's a little tough to swallow cheering for a division rival, but I would like to see CBJ and Buf start to build some long term success

I agree. Plus, Cooley would be able to develop properly and we wouldn’t be forced to move him to the NHL as quick bc of the emergence of Roslo and Sillinger.

I really hope the Jackets could get some luck here and win the lottery and move from 12 to 2. Get Cooley at 2 and get Jiricek at 7. Man, that would be fire.
