Tried to do an off-season using only moves where there are applicable comps. None are perfect apples-to-apples. Open to suggestions for better comps if available.

------

Contract comps (RFAs)

Bratt:
Ehlers (2018): $6,000,000 x 7 years
Nylander (2018): $6,962,366 x 6 years

Mangiapane:
Buchnevich (2021): $5,800,000 x 4 years
Teravainen (2019): $5,400,000 x 5 years

Trades
1.
LAK
  1. Zetterlund, Fabian [RFA Rights]
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Similar to Graves trade last year.

GAR/60
Graves (2019-21) +.29
Roy (2020-22) +.24

No expansion draft, so Kings get a better prospect. Pick is #69 (was #61 in Graves deal)
2.
NJD
  1. Mangiapane, Andrew [RFA Rights]
CGY
  1. Kuokkanen, Janne
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Similar to Buchnevich trade last year

GAR/60
Buch (2019-21) +.60
Mang (2020-22) +.58
Blais (2019-21) +.13
Kuok (2020-22) +.16

PPG
Buch (2019-21) 0.77
Mang (2020-22) 0.64
Blais (2019-21) 0.37
Kuok (2020-22) 0.39

Like Rangers last year, Flames will have some key names to re-sign this off-season. Calgary is getting a younger, better player who is on slightly higher contract ($1.8m vs $1.5m). They are also getting a better pick (#37 vs #56).
3.
NJD
  1. Niederbach, Theodor [Reserve List]
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (WSH)
DET
  1. Zacha, Pavel [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Similar to Sam Bennett trade last year (Heineman + 2nd) between CGY and FLA

GAR/60
Bennett (2015-21) +0.03
Zacha (2015-22) +0.08

PPG
Bennett (2014-21) 0.38
Zacha (2015-22) 0.46

Like Zacha, Bennett was former top-10 pick and pending RFA that could play center or wing. At time of deal, Bennett was career 0.38 ppg player in a 0.32 ppg season (Zacha is career 0.46 ppg player in 0.51 ppg season). Like Niederbach, Heineman was recent 2nd round pick playing in Sweden.
4.
NJD
  1. Samsonov, Ilya [RFA Rights]
WSH
  1. Misyul, Daniil [Reserve List]
  2. Thompson, Tyce
Additional Details:
Similar to Jaroslav Halak trade in 2010 (Lars Eller and Ian Schultz)

Save %
Halak (2008-10): 0.921
Sam (2020-22): 0.902

GAA
Halak (2008-10): 2.56
Sam (2020-22): 2.81

Eller was a 21y forward prospect (#3 on Blues list at the time) who had been coming off a 0.81 ppg season in AHL (Tyce was 0.87 this year in partial season). Schultz was the Blues 17th ranked prospect at the time and long-shot to make NHL. Habs likely got the better prospect package, but were sending a goalie with better track record.

the buchnevich trade is universally regarded as one of the worst trades in recent memory, both before and after the trade, why would you use that as a comparable lol

Everyone and their dog knows the Rangers got fleeced in that trade, do not use it as a base deal.

Easy no for the Flames

Give me a better comp to use and I’ll use it.
But it’s still what sets the market.
Can use the Reinhart deal as well.
Or Arvidsson. Or Burakovsky.

Wingers are usually cheaper in real life than ACGM

(also salary cap can distort value…but if Calgary is letting Gaudreau walk, it changes things)

On the Zacha trade there is a big difference in the comp. One it was a trade deadline deal that increases the cost of a player generally and second FLA is a competitive team in the middle of push for a cup. Neither of these things are present in the deal here.

Well thought out and your valuation of Zacha is fine, but I don't see a fit in Detroit.

What would be comparisons you would use for Boeser, Garland, and/or Bratt trades (I know Bratt is unlikely but he was in some rumours at the deadline for some reason)

I assume something similar to Buchnevich/Reinhart? Although I haven’t done the research you’ve done here (which is quite a lot)

Frank Seravalli made up the rumor about Bratt on deadline day. GM Fitzgerald said he is having talks with Bratt about a new contract now that the season is over

Boeser fits with the Reinhart, Buchnevich comparable

Not sure about Garland. It’s uncommon we see a player with that much term get traded one year into his deal

Yeah I fully don’t expect Bratt to get traded, just wonder what his comparable would be

Arvidsson is much older and Reinhart was on record saying he would not sign long term in Buffalo
Burakovsky was traded as a struggling young player.

I would want something similar to Mantha at least

The only reason I would see NJD moving him is if they cannot sign him long-term (or at reasonable $$). Wouldn’t be a cap move. So I would think Sam Reinhart would be pretty close (sounded like Reinhart was only willing to take 1-year deals in Buffalo so he go to UFA quicker).

Caps got fleeced in Caps deal. Was clear at time. Still clear now. Flames may ask for that, but few would offer in off-season.

90% said Detroit won Mantha trade

Also, Mantha was a deadline deal and was under contract for 4 years. Mangiapane will be an RFA.

And if Flames move him, it would be to make space for Gaudreau and Tkachuk, no? So maybe futures and ELCs only going back. They’d probably end up with something that looks more like JT Miller to VAN deal.

You dont move guys like Mangiapane to do that, especially when you have guys like Lucic and Monahan you can move instead

Not many teams would want Lucic or Monahan.
I’d imagine the latter is a buyout candidate if he is not LTIR’ed.

If they get Gaudreau and Tkachuk to take discounts, that would be ideal.

I disagree on Looch, quite a few teams would probably be interested in him. Anaheim definitely comes to mind there.

As for Monahan he's very low risk high reward. Centers are always a premium
