Barrie needs to be sheltered and paired with a reliable and responsible partner. Montreal needs to dedicate the kind of usage Barrie requires to their prospects.
He's simply not a good fit.

Barrie only gets the puck after the other team score … Hoffman for Barrie is the only realistic trade
But if MTL wants Barrie is because they really want Bedard

I agree, he would only be a potential fit if petry is moved, no shot Barrie and Petry both play for Montreal next season.

Why would oilers move barrie who is highly talented and fits the age group of Edmonton and has proven capable of out performing his salary?

Yes, but who's going to play defense?
Assuming Petry leaves, either Barrie or Barron would need to take regular shifts. I'd rather shelter Barron and giving Barrie defensive responsibility isn't an option.
