Try more like $10,000,000 x 8 years for Johnny Gaudreao. On the open market he gets far more than that.

Oh yeah 1 year deal because the tkachuks are super reasonable when it comes to contract negotiations.

It’s his qualifying offer. If CGY qualifies him and they can’t agree on a long term deal, it wouldnt surprise me if he signs the one year QO then negotiated a long term deal next year. Similar to what CBJ and Laine did last offseason.

10 million AAV is all that matter for the AGM. Term can be whatever.

Steering away from the signings - is Zary ready to move up? Feel like his numbers look like a second AHL year would help him develop rather than playing 7-10 mins between Ritchie and Lucic. Not a Flames fan so genuine question.

It's not at all like the Laine situation. Laine's contract took him him to RFA contract. Tkachuk can be a UFA in the summer of 2023, if he signs a one year contract..

Yeah it’s not the exact same but it’s the same idea. Sign a one year deal then work out the long term extension the next year.

From CGY perspective, Lucic will be off the books next year so they can afford more the following year. From Tkachuks perspective, he will probably get more money on his contract where he is a UFA than if he signs long term right now

Dube is worth more than a 2nd

Pass on the Nucks trade, would rather just play Dube at center and not take back a Dickinson

Tkachuk's not signing a 1 year deal with the Flames

Gaudreau's not getting less than max term with whoever he signs with

Keeping dube and not doing the Dickinson trade means the flames would have to find some one to take on Monahan’s entire contract without taking any money back. That would be super tough to do.

Tkachuk 1 year deal QO walks him to FA while also saving CGY probably 2 million in cap space for this season. Both sides kinda benefit. Tkachuk can sign a huge deal next off season when Calgary has more cap space, Calgary can afford to keep tkachuk and still have money left over to give gaudreau a raise

Why would it be tough? Cheap center with 7 20+ goal seasons for dirt cheap. Any acquiring team would get full access to his medical records so they no exactly how the surgery goes.

He’s not cheap. Almost 7 million cap hit coming off back to back to back underwhelming seasons and now has to recover from surgery. So many teams would rather pass than take that on

It’ll be nice when that Lucic contract comes off the books.

Cap strapped teams yes. But there are plenty of teams who would see him as a low risk, high reward addition. Not to mention he is a highly respected team leader in the dressing room.

Also how is 6.375 almost 7M? Thats quite a reach
