This isn’t anywhere close to a contender. Any team with a top pair of Hughes - Manson isn’t contending for a cup.

As a Jackets fan I can’t get behind that trade. You could get one of either Texier or Boqvist but not both. That’s too steep. The Jackets would rather make a move for younger talent. Miller is good but would rather wait for him to hit FA.

Maybe Manson is not ideal, but please tell me you don’t still believe Hughes is only a third pair PP specialist. His defensive game has massively improved and has been successful on the PK. If you’re saying a team isn’t a contender because they have Hughes-Manson as a top pair then idk what to say to you man. There are other aspects of this team that are worse but that’s the thing you choose to focus on because you hate Hughes for some reason

He has improved. I still think his 5 on 5 minutes need to be sheltered, and cut significantly for that matter. He’s getting north of 20 when it should probably be more like 16-17. His PK TOI was 1:12 per game, and it should be 0:00.

Did I say at any point that this is a contender. This AGM is regarding what moves the Canucks should make in order to get on the path of quickly becoming a contending team. Oh and as Juiceman said, you still think Hughes is a #6 Defenceman

How about replacing Boqvist with Corson?

I don’t think he can play top pair 5 on 5 either though.

This ain’t it chief.
Texier can’t stay healthy.
Kuzmenko has never played North American hockey, who knows what you’ll get.
Monahan is wasted cap.
Zucker won’t stay healthy.
Manson isn’t top pairing capable

I literally see no reason why he shouldn’t get top pair minutes. He’s playing 25 minutes a night and is thriving in that role. He’s been excellent on the PK in the time he’s give. You’re still stuck in last year when he had one bad season. He is a top pair d man and I don’t think there are many people who you would convince otherwise

According to CMcAvoy73, Quinn Hughes isn’t too paring capable either 😂

Hughes as actually been quite good on the PK, and has improved his defensive game enough to where it’s not exactly a negative anymore. Obviously he’s not as good defensively as a guy like Tanev, but he’s definitely improved

You're saying Hughes should only be playing 16-17 minutes a game and should be taken off the penalty kill? Man, somebody is out to lunch

Personally if it didn’t cost Columbus a ton to get Miller I’d be down, but I can’t see a trade that Columbus makes that includes Coulemans or Boqvist. I’d be willing to over up bean, but I don’t think Vancouver would want him.

The Jackets really like Ceulemans. If Miller were younger it probably would be more appealing. But his age and the fact he is likely going to hit FA after next season really doesn’t make the the Jackets motivated to ante up for him. Besides, the Jackets have some high picks this year. Jarmo is a big draft and development guy. Just can’t see it with this trade.

Well, i think you might be watching with some bias.

It’s very rare that an NHL team has a d man capable of playing 25 minutes well that isn’t a really good team.

Idk, I’d be interested in this trade. We need to clear out Fs anyway (someone is going to get squeezed). If we could get Miller *without* giving up one of our 1sts? That’d be phenomenal IMO.

The issue here is, yeah, his age. FWIW, I only trade for Miller if he has an extension - maybe 5-6 years.

Idk. Reasonable minds can differ on this one.

Jarmo doesn’t have to move forwards if he doesn’t want to. If he wants he can send Chinakhov, Johnson, and Marchenko down to AHL Cleveland. I actually expect that anyway. I think Jarmo is going to give Foudy and Bemstrom and even TFW all the ice time they need so they can build up trade value. Kind of what they did with Peeke. They already knew what they had from Peeke, so they brought up other players. I really think 2023-2024 is going to be the season we really start making a push for contender status again.

I’m not that sold on him sending those guys down quite so easily. Chinny needed AHL time this year, but didn’t get it. Bemstrom has needed AHL time, but hasn’t gotten it. Foudy, if anything, has needed more NHL time, but hasn’t gotten it.

And even if we talk about those guys being waivers exempt, it doesn’t change that we are going to be in a bind at F sooner rather than later.

No, it doesn't come out as negative value, he's been legitimately good defensively but you can't seem to bring yourself to recognize that for some strange reason

It hasn't been anywhere close to "negative" this season, stop underselling it
