The Islanders wouldn't do the first deal and while the value is good, it is unlikely the Jets do the 2nd.

Barzal has more value than Schief. Dobson has more value than Schief. The devils top 5 pick has more value than Hellebuyck. Mercer and Blackwood have more value than Hellebuyck. These are very very very far off

Seriously hope that Devils aren't going for guys like Helly and Gibson.
These guys will just cost way too much to acquire for a team that still won't contend for the cup with or without them.
Keeping Mercer and whomever the Devils draft at five will help to ensure that the Devils window of contention remains open for the long-term.
A core of the Hughes bros, Holtz, Mercer, Hamilton, Bratt, Hischier, 22 draft pick and other fantastic prospects in the Devils organization can keep the Devils a contender for 10+ years.

I would beg to differ. They need LHD and Schmidt fits that bill. A third at most is what I feel he is worth, my preference would be one of our fourths since he does provide the jets with some needed cap relief.

Interested to see what you have going back from Devs on Hellebuyck.

I would imagine a trade would be like Blackwood+5th OVR or so for Hellebuyck and the Jets 1st (14th OVR or so).

Jets move up and get a mid-low tier starting goalie. Devils move back and get a top tier goalie who will help them catapult into the playoffs. Still able to get a player in the draft to fill a need. Jets get a pick to take a top center to probably replace Scheifele.
