I like the path the Sabres are on and they should be good in the last part of this decade. But that seems like a lot to give for Hellebuyck and still miss the playoffs next year....and then he has just one more season till UFA.

It's 2022. You think it will take 6 years to get good?

No from Winnipeg. Change all the fluff to Cozens and Buffalo's 1st and the Jets might take interest.

That's a lot to give up, I wouldn't do that deal. Especially with only 2yrs left on his contract

Just give me one comparable trade that would even put what you suggested in a ball park.
Goalies don't have that kind of value.

Terrible asset management In the trade to WPG.
Goalies are not traded with that kind of value.
I would argue that overspending on a guy like Husso in FA is a much better avenue.

And I honestly can't see buffalo brining players like Monahan. They have a lot of young talent that they will want to give consistent minutes too along with young talent they are bringing up. We can't clog up the roster like that. If we took on Monahan I believe it would be to retain salary and move to another team.

Cool. Then move on and ask someone else to give up their elite goalie that they don't want to trade, for a quantity package.

That package would literally be the best package I have ever seen for a goalie.

No, the last part of the decade starts in 2025. I think Sabres miss the playoff in 22/23, 23/24 and then they are serious playoff contenders. I said in an earlier post, in about 25/26, you might see Tampa, Florida, Leafs, Bruins, Wings, Sens and Sabres all within 10 points of each other, all could a real force in the East.

Remember the Leafs a few years ago they finished last....the following year(s) they made the playoffs. Certainly the Sabres have laid the ground work to be a good team soon. But the Leafs didn't have as many teams to jump over to make the playoffs. Just that the Atlantic has three very good teams now, and they won't be able to dethroned for a couple of years.

I guess I saw last part as the very end.

I think playoffs next year is tough.

But Boston is getting old and Tampa is getting old and will have to make money decisions, as will toronto. 23-24 looks like a very interesting year

I don’t think helly is available right now but scheifele pionk and Heinola for krebs olofsson and your #8 overall first rounder might work.

You can see how Boston has had some trouble replacing Kjeci at second line centre. And what become of Bergeron next season. I still think Boston can patch something together as their cap is somewhat good. Tampa is likely to lose Palat due to cap restraints. Leafs will also be at the cap but in 24/25....Nylander and Matthews and their 18m will likely be gone. It's how they replace those guys will determine of the Leafs are still top 8 team.
Sens, Wings, Devils, Sabres and Kings....might be the only teams will big cap space in the next couple of years. UFAs will be looking for a home to cash in, so these teams can set themselves up nicely.

I really don’t know the only reason i even mentioned the above trade is Scheifele might actually re sign in Buffalo I think your teams done a lot of things right lately and scheifeles from Kitchener which is a two hour drive. Would give you a good 1a 1b with Thompson and pionk could slot in beside power for a long time.

Sure it hurts to lose krebs and olofsson but I didn’t even look before I said that and now I’m realizing they’re both left hand shots and that really doesn’t work for Winnipeg anyway that leaves us with like 3 righty’s on the whole roster.

I really don’t see Winnipeg moving demelo. But would have to be traded for someone who could jump in and help now it wouldn’t be for futures.

Calgary will be desperate for cap space to get Tkachuk and Gaudreau resigned.
Monahan is a negative impact player making over 6 million a year. He's gotta be off their roster to do that.
