Just wanted to relate that everything is possible lol. And also, I've seen a lot of ''How far'' ACGMs with way better teams than this, and people were saying wild card spot, or 2nd round max, but a team that sticks well can go really far even tho it might not be the best players.

Suzuki, Caufield, and Kotkaniemi were praised as top prospects, Danault a selke candidate, Price considered one of the best goalies in the league, Weber seen as an older but still excellent defenseman. They had depth veterans and made a key signing with Toffoli. This was a well built team, not a lucky one.

Crazy how teams can fall apart like that in one offseason.
Losing your starter, #1 dman, and 1C in one offseason is brutal. Not to mention Edmundson and KK their 3C and 3D

Losing 2 dman of your top 4 (Weber and Edmundson), your 1C, your 1G, and all those guys were great leaders with Perry and Staal. Of course this hurts..

The only reason the Habs even got that far was because the North Division sucked. The Canucks were infected and injured beyond belief. Markstrom was not that good for the Flames. The Sens were continuing their rebuild. The Habs barely managed to squeak in, and they end up winning the North. I’m not terribly surprised that they won the North with how bad it was, but I had Vegas sweeping them. They got past Vegas with their PK and Flower making mistakes. Then they hit Tampa.

I mean, is it really a surprise of their position this season without Weber and Price, and being put back into a hyper competitive conference. It was a miracle run, one that really should not have happened, but did anyway.

Typical habs hater comment ''they were good just because all others were bad''. That being said, majority of experts were projecting habs 3rd, 4th, 5th of the division at the beginning of the year, Toronto was supposed to destroy that division but they still lost in playoffs. Carey Price was decent, but hey, he's part of our team. As good as Vegas and Toronto offense are, Price did a better job than their respective goalies and this is exactly how a 10.5 millions player is supposed to be.

I do not agree to lower the exploits of a team due to the organization of the divisions. It is true to say that the North was weak, but the Canadian not being a power either, the other teams should also have benefited from it, especially since Price was injured half of the season. Rules were set that the 4 first team of the division enters in playoffs, we don't have to be shy from this. If we were that weak, Vegas should have destroy us, but habs succeed where all teams of good West division all failed (beating Vegas).

Not trying to hate on the Habs, but you have to agree that the North being the weakest was what let the Habs go on there run. You look at their record, they don’t make the playoffs in any other division. And even if they did make the playoffs in any other division, do you really think they win a round or go to the final? It’s not about lowering the exploits of a team, because what the Habs did was admirable, but I bring the point back, would they have the same success if they were in the Central or the East? The West I think they might have been able to have the same success, but I can’t say the same about the Central or the East. But I digress.
