Oilers only give up a 2nd rounder for nearly $11M in cap relief and that doesn't even include Klefboms contract. I don't know about that chief.

But joking aside, Campbell on the Oilers does make a lot of sense, and that payday would be more that what I imagine Toronto is offering.

depending on how they build the rest of their team, Kassian is probably attractive to floor teams like Arizona. he's got 2x$3.25M left but is only owed $5.8M for those two seasons, so he's paid less than he's worth towards the floor. I think if you gave the Coyotes a 3rd they'd probably take him off your hands.

Oilers better hope for cap reasons, Smith and Keith retire. Kane and Campbell for five years? Too much term and maybe money.

Hahaha! We don’t need to move Klefbom though.. also, Campbell may come to Edmonton, but how mad would Toronto be. We took their 1LW, now their starting goalie! Campbell has impressed me this year with how he has been playing.. I’ll give him that. I thought Toronto was crazy with letting him be the starter.

If keith were to retire we would have more cap space than other teams

You should read the team explanation. Here it is:

Team Explanation
keith and smith retire

It's $3.2M in cap relief, and Kassian is an NHL player anyhow, if overpaid. It likely won't require a 2nd to move his contract.

Why would they retire if they both still want to win a cup and they are on a competitive team?

Leafs wouldn't be mad at all. Campbell (like Hyman) are UFAs, not the Leafs to keep. I kinda think Campbell has priced himself out of Toronto anyway. 5.5m X 5 is seems steep for Campbell. But Oilers would have to premium attract UFAs...especially Americans.
Hyman at 5.5 X 7. Leafs are delighted they signed Bunting at 1m X 2, and got just a good a player.

I don't know, it's not my AGM. People make personal decisions for personal reasons, it's not for me to say why Smith or Keith might retire or not. I will point out that Keith has 3 Cup rings already, so I'm not sure winning a Cup has the same pull as you're implying.
