Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: May 3, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Minnesota Trade:
Islanders acquire a winger that can match and play at the offensive skill level of barzal, one thing they struggled with the last 2 years was producing a high amount of goals adding fiala surely boosts their 5v5 offence to well above average.
For minnesota they receive a young talented winger that just isn't receiving the opportunities he deserves. this also benefits minnesota as now they have a top young talent at each forward position LW- Boldy C- Rossi RW- Wahlstrom he is also gonna be on a team friendly contract for atleast 3-4 more years allowing minny to stay under the cap until the suter and parise buyouts come to a near end.
they receive 2 high round picks and a young RHD that potentially could crack their bottom pairing as minny is still reluctant to play addison in the line-up.

Bruins trade:
I don't even need to explain reilly to NYI it seems like one thing that just needs to happen according to the CapFriendly community
But instead of a pick going back Pageau comes to boston, he fits their system in terms of that he is a very reliable defensive center, he has a bit of an off year this season but until about the 60 game mark everyone but Dobson was under producing on the NYI, Pageau is a good playoff performer and was a key reason to NYI beating boston last playoffs as he did very well at containing bergeron most games and was very good against him at the draw especially in NYI's defensive zone. Overall i think he is a good fit for boston and could be a consistent 25g/30a guy for boston

Washington Trade:
Washington looks to pick up a vet goalie and try to keep competing with their aging core, vanecek and samsonov don't seem to be getting it done so maybe with the veteran presence of varlamov he can help them go further in PO's and help develop samsonov and show him the way

one key note. though most NYI fans want bailey gone i feel that management has to much respect for him and will most likely just let him run his contract out with the team, unless they became really desperate for cap i think that would be the only scenario they move him

how is that an overpay? wahlstrom is still competing for a top 6 spot and is till a bit of project, the 23 1st will be a late one and same with the 3rd and bode wilde hasn't proven anything really and is in need of a huge change of scenery at best he tops out as a 6th dman now.
fiala is over ppg and has dominated 5v5 for the last 3 years now, he also has spent majority of his 5v5 minutes playing with third liners having to carry his line night in and night out it wasn't till the last half of the season that he started getting more reps with kaprizov and then the emergence of boldy and he finally got teammates comparable to his skill level and now he lights up the score sheet and again a lot of it from 5v5 which NYI seriously lacks

Wahlstrom is 20 and has an elite shot. You arent getting that for Fiala alone lmao.

he has 25 goals in 126 games i know his shot is good but his accuracy and production is looking a little off, fiala has proven for multiple years to be a very consistent goal scorer.

NYI would be lucky if wahlstrom surpasses fiala's point production

He's about to be 22 and hasn't shown any high end scoring since juniors.

OP's offer needs more quality instead of quantity.

Wahlstrom plays like 11 minutes a night with 4th line grinders. constantly gets benched and is being destroyed by Trotz's signature 5 years of hell treatment that he gave to Burakovsky. Its not happening. Wahlstrom is not getting moved and most certainly not for Wahlstrom. If he sucks, then dont trade for him. dumb comment.

exactly i think minny would see interest in wahlstrom as he has potential and he is cheap, minny is also good at developing forwards. this guy is just clueless you can tell by his name he is obviously extremely bias.

sorry but by your name is can tell you are extremely bias and obviously overrate him dramatically he is a good young player and has potential but he is a a quarter of what fiala currently is and given how trotz is treating him he probably won't turn out anyways till trotz is gone which i don't see happening anytime soon he is a top 5 coach in the league so you literally just counter argued yourself especially with the burakovsky comparison he didn't turn into a top 6 winger until trotz left washington

Isles signed Pageau just 2 years ago and I don't see why they would want to move him. Excluding '18-19 when he missed half season, he's averaged ~40 pts/season since 2015. Why would he become a 55-pts player at 30yo on a defensive-minded team? Unless you want him to get carried by Hall/Pastrnak but that's another thing. His contract isn't good either, okay at best for now and the Bruins already have a 3C in Charlie Coyle.

never said he is comparable to fiala now. But his talent 100% outweighs him. Wahlstrom was out best powerplay guy behind Barzal and is the future of this team. Playing 10 minutes a night in a defensive system with 4th line grinders, of course he wont produce. But thats not a reason to move him lmao.

the whole 50 point projection is based on yes hall and pasta leading and as you said the reason i want him is because we are a defensive minded team and he is very good defensively. he was a huge problem for boston last playoffs. i could see isles considering moving him to clear cap, he isn't a cap dump though i just feel isles will want to acquire a big forward target and move some money into their no longer deep dcore. i do think 4.5 mill is rather even for his production and another thing is he is a playoff performer so i think his value will be better boosted then. i wouldn't be surprised given B's system that pageau finished top 10 in selke votes that would be pretty nuts having 3 guys in the top selke voting
