GMTF may still be weighing his options with Lindy.
Situation emerging in Vancouver, other things may develop (pls get Grönborg).
Pretty much 50-50 to me whether Ruff stays for 22-23 or not.

Also, letting Recchi and Nas go is definitely the right thing to do anyways.

I was really hoping that any discussion pertaining to the have-not teams in the NHL would be confined to their individual subforums as a means of boosting traffic to those parts of the site and it's why I didn't initially make one of these threads when I started the playoff thread.

I'm fine with this being here at any rate.

Canucks don’t really need Samuelson though. We have too many LHD. We need RHD. I’m personally also not willing to give up on Hoglander yet. I hear Samuelson is a very good shutdown d man so idk

Well assuming Jack Hughes = Devils you're perfectly correct. But if you don't want to let 8 goals per game then you gotta find yourself a new coach.

Speaking from experience. Ruff more or less killed Lehtonen's and Niemi's career.

Nah, Canada still solos. And Bedard, Fantilli, and Wright are on the way to keep it going in the future, although the mctrio of McDavid, MacKinnon, and Makar are holding it down for now wink

I’m somewhat torn on the Ruff issue. He’s had the worst luck with availability and performance with goalies in his two years with the Devils, and injuries to other key players as well. Bratt, Hughes, Hischier and Mercer have developed rather well during his time here and I think Ruff’s gotta have some credit for that. Offense generation 5 v 5 has been very good under Ruff as well.

But there’s also the defensive lapses, the woeful special teams performance, dressing Geertsen for 25 games, PLAYING ALEX FRIKKIN HOLTZ ON A LINE WITH GEERTSEN OMFG

It wouldn’t be the end of the world if Ruff came back in 22-23 for a final year, Devils are still transitioning from rebuilding to contending. But I think there probably are better options to put behind the bench for next year.
On balance, I’d want a new HC for 22-23.

2016 & 2019 are saving the USA right now. Every other draft has favored Canada (including 2022 it looks like)
