Call me crazy, but I would have gone Sutter, Brunette, Granato. Big fan of the work he’s done in Buffalo, especially the revivals he’s helped Skinner and Okposo have

I like the Granato shout out, he did a really good job also. Not a fan of Brunette or Gallant being on this list

Granato would've never been even close to a Jack Adams nomination, you pretty much have to a playoff team coach to be nominated

My bias says that Brad Larsen should have been at least nominated considering the massive turnaround the Jackets went thru between last year and this year with him at the helm.

Like @A_Habs_fan said, it will go to coaches who get their teams into the playoffs but I completely agree guys like Larsen, Granato, even someone like Dallas Eakins that was able to keep a very young team in ANA in a playoff contention for a while deserve some love.

But for me, Sutter McLennan Sullivan should have been it

Prefer to get some responses for this on here:

Would an Engvall for Miles Wood(NJD) trade be fair?

NJD gets an excellent PK man (something they really struggle with) can play in the bottom six and give you 30 plus points

TOR does take a risk here with Wood who has not be able to play a full 82 games in his career, but plays the heavier style the Leafs are looking for.

i think if njd really wanted engvall just wait toronto out. i doubt they qualify him due to him being arbitration eligible.

Engvall's qualifying offer is 1,250,00 and Wood is 3,500,000

Money is not the issue here, is it a fair trade

my point is arbitration. if engvall gets just his q.o. he'll likely opt for arbitration. since he's likely not a big earner the leafs will end up with a contract that they are not allowed to walk away from. i suspect the leafs might opt to not take that risk and just let him walk since money might be pretty tight this offseason.

At max he is getting a 3 year deal around 2.1-2.5, yes they can fit that in.

i guess that depends on the $7m nylander question.

None of the big five will be leaving this offseason. Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander, and Rielly all showed up this playoffs.

Well by this logic it is very conceivable that NJD could let Wood walk with a qualify offer that starts at 3.5 with a player that has not player 82 games in a season and has topped out at 32 points once in 2017. Leafs could probably just wait too

yup. i would be very surprised if njd gave him a q.o. either way njd is in a much better position than toronto to make it work with the cap.

Cooper has only been nominated for two Jack Adams in his career (and never won) and is the longest tenured coach on one of the most successful teams over the past decade. Obviously the team is great (not saying he should have won or been nominated this year), but him and Sullivan don't always get the respect.

Isnt Woods QO 3.5mill

I feel hes a candidate that might just become a UFA as does NJ want to give him that.

So we could just wait and get both

Sullivan got robbed

Like for what 3-4 months he didnt have Crosby and Malkin and still the Penguins went on like what 2 10 game win streaks or something with Rodrigues as the 1c.

Seeing a handful of delusional Habs fans think we are going to trade 87 is pretty funny yet sad
