Really? I honestly thought Kimelman’s list kinda sucks. Mintyukov at 7 is not only a reach, but it would be stupid for Ottawa to take a LD. Jiricek isn’t slipping past 6, let alone 9. Snuggerud and Yurov are too high. Morreale’s seems reasonable tbh. LDBB and Bichsel are the only reaches and that’s not that bad in the teens.

Feel like most presumptive first picks are these days, I remember having the same thought about Jack Hughes. I guess it’s hard when you’re told for 2+ years you’re the best, beginning when you’re an immature 16yo. It doesn’t help that the reporters almost always set it up with stupid, leading questions hoping to illicit exactly that response.

Columbus trades: CBJ 1st via Chicago (6 OA), CBJ 1st (12 OA)

According to the chart above, this would be the value of the picks
Pick 2: 12.3
Pick 69: 0.9
Pick 6: 7.6
Pick 12: 5.5

12.3 + 0.9 = 13.2
7.6 + 5.5 = 13.1

Basically identical values and logically this makes sense

Columbus moves up to take Logan Cooley who will be their 1C of the future (Kent Johnson at 2C or 1LW)
NJ moves downs and still ends up with Kemell or Jiricek at 6 (they pick Jiricek for the sake of this scenario).

But wait its not done
Then NJ uses the 12th pick + Pavel Zacha to acquire Kevin Fiala from Minnesota. Fiala resigns long term with the Devils

Devils future top 6 and top 4
Holtz-Hughes-Mercer
Fiala-Hischier-Bratt
Hughes-Hamilton
Smith-Jiricek



I love these charts, I think actual teams use them as well. In football the bills have there own chart that they make and they use that, along with there prospect board to discuss draft trades. Pretty cool actually.

I'm fine with it honestly. More NHLers should be able to express flair and personality.

One of the worst things about the NHL is they try to temper star players from having any sort of ego or expressing any sort of emotion or reaction beyond a clean cut good guy. I'm sick of the only guys in the league having any personality are the useless fourth line plugs whose only claim to fame is injuring someone or getting into a line brawl. Let your good players flourish and keep this dip****s on the sidelines where they belong.

No problem with personality, being confident, just think he needs to be humble. Instead of saying “I’m the best give it to me I deserve it” have a more humble attitude and say “it’s an honour to be considered for first overall”.

“If you’re the Montreal Canadiens, and I know you’re hosting the draft. If the Arizona Coyotes come to you and say ‘We will give you our No. 3 overall pick and our first-rounder next season in exchange for the 2022 first overall pick,’ what do you say?” asked Jeff Marek.

Man there is potential as if that 2023 1st is not protected Montreal could end up with Cooley and Bedard.

I would only do it, if that 2023 1st was not protected

If it wasn't protected, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Arizona is still far from contention and I worry Wright may be less of a talent than people think. Plus, imagine the possibility for Montreal to struggle next year and get Cooley/Nemec, Bedard, and Michkov.

I think Marek thought of it cause of the Lindros debate

As what if Arizona get the 2023 1OA and Bedard goes **** that I aint signing with you

Or maybe they just really want Wright

Idk it seems Arizona is better off rn drafting Cooley and then praying they dont get Lindros'd in 2023.
