Its honestly getting to the point now where there is no point to keeping them in AZ. But Gary Batman's tryna act like a hero and save the titanic with a yogurt container.

I would have said "duct tape" but this is even funnier

Jacobs family will not allow it. bruins should have fully rebuilt in 2014/15/16 and did a soft retool where they relied heavily on the top guys and didnt bring in enough talent to actually win anything. all the jacobs family cares about is playoff revenue. they dont care about winning a cup.

Ngl it's pretty much the case for all Original 6 teams, except Detroit but it still took them way too long before they committed to a rebuild. Rangers rushed it like crazy and I'm afraid the Habs will rush it as well.

I want the Pinto rumours to stop. You don’t trade a player like that.

Rangers didnt really rush it, they just made a couple bone headed moves in response to tom wilson and for whatever reason Rangers problem is that they cant develop players correctly. getting blais/goodrow/reaves... lias andersson being a bust, chytil not working out as well, kravtsov not making the team, theres even more to it but the 2015/16/17/18 crop should be starting to leave their marks in the nhl . imo they lucked out HARD with fox demanding to come to NY. the only thing theyve drafted well is defense. miller, schneider, fox, lundkvist should be a solid top 4. idk if any of those guys can play an off hand though.

I think the Duchene trade takes that. Pinto projects as a 2c, Fiala's already established as a 1st line winger, why wouldn't you do it

Pinto is going to be a million times more valuable in the playoffs. A big mobile 2 way centre that has high IQ , excellent defensively and great on faceoffs , why the heck would u move him. Keep Pinto and sign a Burakovsky

why do people keep trading forwards to the Oilers in the armchair GMs ? our forward group is already solid and we have Holloway, Bourgault, and Savoie on the way we need D and goaltending way more.

Fwiw just about no one is able to make trash D-men look great and that's more on Lamoriello than Trotz for doing bad management. Three of your examples should've retired 5 years ago. Leddy's still seen as a decent offensive D-man, which was proven when Yzerman dealt the Räty pick for him. Advanced stats folk just like to hate on him.

Overall I'm still of the opinion that Trotz had 4 great D-men on his arsenal during his time there and he was able to extract the most of their potential as it was a solid environment for a D to develop. And I'm pretty sure just about any professional pundit will give you the same analysis.

Sutter is able to make trash Dman look great. Just because Yzerman traded for Leddy doesn’t mean he’s good. There are certain players who still have good reputations for what they did 5+ years ago. The islanders were significantly worse every time Leddy was on the ice, if Trotz’s coaching and system were that good, Leddy should at least be average at both ends of the ice.

I don’t think he held defenseman back but my point is the defenseman were already great. If you swapped out Pelech, Pulock, and Toews for say Mike Reilly, Josh Manson and Brandon Montour, the isles never make the playoffs under Trotz.

I don't think Sutter has had D-men of the level of post-declined Boychuk, Greene and Chara in his team like ever. Or if he has, I can't recall them at all.

Nonetheless, Sutter has not managed to get his current team to the level Trotz had Isles in. And in LA Sutter's team was absolutely stacked.

Gudbrandson has been one of the worst defenseman in the NHL over the last 5 years and this season he’s had a decent impact under Sutter. Gudbranson was worse than Greene and Boychuk.

The flames just won their division a year after missing the playoffs. That’s just as impressive than what Trotz did. Trotz had a stacked team in WSH, probably should have won more than 1 cup.

That division is the worst one in the league by far. Meanwhile Isles had to go one of the strongest. Also playoff success >> regular season success.

I'd be interested to see what Gudbranson would be like under Trotz, but it's true Sutter knows how to use physical D-men at their best.

Yeah but going from missing the playoffs to winning the division is a big jump with pretty much the same roster.

The isles 2nd year under Trotz they didn’t even deserve to make the playoffs lol. Covid saved them, without it they wouldn’t have made it. That was the year Adam Pelech tore his Achilles and Trotz’s genius move was to move Boychuk into a top 4 role and playing Dobson under 12 min per night which burned out Pulock and Toews.

Gudbrandson would be terrible under Trotz because Trotz doesn’t care about possession. Probably not ideal to have Gudbrandson spending most of his ice time scrambling in the Dzone.

Ottawa might wanna worry about their first round selection not being in the top 10 before they consider how valuable a specific player is going to be in the playoffs.
