Why are we trading Asplund? He's a great defensive forward on an extremely cheap contract.

Peterka will be in the lineup

I'd rather have Kolesar than Asplund.

Washington is trading Eller to free up space on the Bottom 6, and Dadanov is just a more expensive version of Sheary, so Washington passes. They can trade Eller for a mid round pick and the cap space freed allows them to possibly go for a top 6 forward or to save cap for Orlov, Fehervary, Jensen, and Alexeyev extensions.

Why?

Asplund is way better
