Description
The Laine trade isn't great, but it might just be fun. I pushed us right up against the cap even though thats pretty hard to do. Maybe not worth it.

Isles accept that - Kunin has already shown he can be a 10-15 goal guy, Bellows hasn't had the chance to. Let him get some run on the 4th line with the way he throws the body around - definitely an upgrade over Ross or Matt Martin at this point.

Laine takes a discount after having a point per game season? And jackets accept a trade for laine for a bunch of spare parts? No chance on either happening.

You loose that Islanders trade.

Laine is interesting. I could see Nashville going for either him or Boeser this summer

Don't get me wrong, it's not a good offer for CBJ, but you only have to go back one season and Tolvanen was out producing Laine. I wouldn't say him and a first alone are necessarily "spare parts", not to mention a 2nd and a close to NHL ready bottom 6 guy. I understand Tolvanen has had a down year, but what if he were to bounce back just like Laine did this year? Again, not saying this even gets close to CBJ accepting (especially with Laine seeming to want to sign long term there), but I wouldn't consider it to be spare parts either. I'm not sure there are many offers out there that would move the needle for CBJ now that they've got a legit star forward that wants to be there.

I respect your opinion, however why go to the only season Eli has done a thing in the nhl. Compared to laine who literally had the worst season of what will probably be his entire career. We shouldn’t judge a player at their worst or their best. And a career high 22 points in 40 games isn’t exactly the earth shattering numbers to be considered a needle mover for laine. He’s the same age. (Drafted one year later). I’m sorry but Eli has gone from the best prospect outside of the nhl to a middle six contributor.

To the spare parts thing, I would disagree. Everything has tiers. Laine would be considered a complementary piece in a McDavid trade. So a late first or Eli would be considered complementary pieces in a laine trade. Spare parts, complementary pieces, same difference just one sounds nastier and may have slightly less value.

(Edit, is he scratched right now? )
