Yeah, well in Johnsons' case, everybody knows he's nothing more than a 3rd pair defenseman at this point in his career. With Mayfield, it isn't quite as clear

Sergachev is a 2nd pair caliber defenseman, Cooper just chooses to play him on the left side behind McDonagh and Hedman, but Sergy can play both sides. On any other team, Sergachev would be a 1st or 2nd pair defenseman

And Serg still plays 20 minutes a night, the point is just because Mayfield is listed as "3rd pair" on daily faceoff does not mean he is playing 10 minutes a night. He is still core on the PK and they role 3 pairs
