Giving Giroux an extra year on his term in order to drop his AAV a bit . Also Florida taxes . This would be the equivalent of 4 years at 6 per anywhere else. Which is 3 x 7-7.5 if he were to only take 3 years

4 x 4.5 for Giroux seems like an unrealistic steal.

3 x 7 is probably fair anywhere else but you gotta factor the taxes and the extra year of term

4 x 4.5 = 18 million
3 x 7 million = 21 million

The 4th year should pay him more than the 3 year but just slightly.

4 x 5.8 vs a 3 x 7 is better and more realistic scenario.

its a 350k difference from Philly a 700k from Canada, it isnt a huge thing. You arent getting a .7 ppg player for 4.5 million a year.

4 x 5.8 would mean 2.2 million more than a 3 x 7. That isnt a ton especially when Giroux could probably earn 4-5 as a 38 year old in a 90+ million dollar cap scenario. Then you add in the taxes savings of 350k a year over returning to philly and you have a much more respectable 3.5 million dollar difference. Giroux would take that.

4 x 4.5 mil = 18 million + 4 x 350k = 19.2 million
3 x 7 = 21 million.
No agent should ever accept taking less guaranteed money.

florida has one more year of being a juggernaut then depth and defense (which they arent good at) will decline.

While I dont know if you’re right or wrong I have no idea. But if he’s having fun and enjoying Florida why wouldn’t you stay in Florida for 1.8 less than go back to a crap team and a crap city lol
