Binnington signed his contract and turned to dust the year after. Goalies are weird man, would rather take a chance with levi/upl

Wings pass, we can get better for sunny at the deadline if we want to move him and he was brought in specifically for his size and defense. Can't see the wings moving him for nothing at this point

We have way better wingers on the team and coming up next year. Bjork isn't a fit on the wings currently and sunny is a better fit.

Otter is worth it, Dallas has a stud, kinda sucks the team is falling apart up front. Im putting him on Vasilevsky's pedestal, you all can join me whenever

No goalie is worth the contract, let alone giving up all those assets... Vasilevsky is a complete unicorn and you could argue that even he isn't worth that contract...

There are definitely goalies that are worth that contract, the problem as I stated before, is that those goalies usually dont get those contracts until theyre about 28, when, unless theyre a rare breed, they start falling apart. Vasilevsky is worth every cent of his contract, and Dallas is going to get Oettinger for cheaper because they arent stealing him from another team, but his contract will be a steal.

needed the 3rd for the rfa compensation, signing Otter would make him redundant, and Portillo can walk as a UFA in 2024

That's the new nhl. Treat goalies like running backs- if you land a good one, great, but never overpay to acquire them and never overpay them in salary.

of the 12 goalies paid over 5 mill, 6 of them have been to the Stanley Cup in the last 5 years, 3 more have a good shot of making it this year, and theres 10 cups between them. They get their pay days too late because of that mentality, which perpetuates that thinking

This decision making is exactly why Buffalo is like the Detroit Lions. I feel bad for anyone getting drafted there.

I like how you used 5m as the target... Now list every goalie that made over 9m that won a cup, ever... Spoiler alert, it's a VERY short list.

I put 5 mill as the target because at 9 mill the list of goalies in general is short, at 3, 2 of them were in the cup final last year, 2 have a good chance to be there this year and there are 2 cups won. So that kinda back fired on you
