That's a huge no for me Bob.
1 - I'm not passing on the First this season even at 7, lots of good players available.
2 - If you give Fiala 8 and Giroux 7 with the term you got there and get lucky enough to get Norris at 8 (I think he gets more) is no way in hell your gonna be able to sign Stutzle & Sanderson long term alone and the raise that Zub needs, plus potentially another #1 goalie if Forsberg doesn't fill that role by next season, and the other prospects coming.

Pretty good deals/ signings, but two things IMO I would change. Brady and drake and josh line first line and I would bring in a 3 c or 4 c from fa and Del Zotto to like the flames for a 5th and maybe buy out murray other than that perfect maybe lower money on Giroux 6 x 2 or 7.5 x 3.

There’s space for Stutzle with like 5 mill expiring. If only Giroux takes 2 years, we can time it for a Sandy raise

Does this work cap wise in years 2 and 3? And this is a playoff team IF it can hold up in net, which is still TBD. Not sold Forsberg can be a playoff starter. And why trade brown? He's exactly what a playoff team needs. I get that you did it cuz there isn't a spot after the signings but I feel like you have to find a way to work him into the top 9

Honestly, Ottawa's closer to contending for a playoff spot then Detroit is, imo.

Until Detroit gets their 2C situation worked out I can't see them actively competing for a playoff spot. Despite they're prospect pipeline.

Ottawa just more or less needs the top-six wingers and goaltending to be on par with the rest of the team.

Well I don’t think we’ll re-sign Brown anyways so it’s better than losing him for nothing. Also ideally you sign Giroux for 2 years which would expire when Sanderson needs a raise. It could work that way. You also have Hamonic , Watson, Holden expiring. You could probably make it work but realistically you’re looking at maybe just Giroux or Fiala. Play Joseph on line 2 with either one and keep Brown on line 3.

Formenton-Pinto-Brown could be the best 3rd line in the league tbh

Also Detroit needs a 2RW . Also on 2LW Vrana is always injured lol. And Detroit has terrible goaltending right now. They also have 0 good LHD besides Edvinsson who hasn’t played any NHL games yet. And I’m not sold on Hronek in the top 4

Just gotta figure out what to do with matt murray. White buyout looks kinda like a no brainer

Better chance Alfi comes out of retirement and plays for OTT than OTT trading that top 10 pick for fiala,

Dorion said he’d consider trading the pick. Hell even Fitz said he’d trade the NJ 1st to improve now which is looking like a top 5 pick. So it’s not that far fetched .

Dorion also had to talked out of trading down from 5th 2 years ago instead of taking Sanderson...he also said he would get a top 6 F to replace Dadonov and we all know how that went

It can work, I just don't think Dorion has the balls to do it.

2023-2024 Hammer, Watty, Holden and DelZotto come off the books for $7.8M, add $1M cap increase (could be more). Then the cap space that's already there, $11M, so you have $19.8M in cap space.

    - Stuey gets a $7.5M raise ($8.5M salary)
    - Zub gets a $2.5M raise (that's on the high end)
    - Kasty gets a $500K raise ($1.4M salary)
    - Replace Hammer by JBD at $1M
    - Greig replaces Watty at $1M (not ideal to have him on the 4th line but injuries etc. can change that)
    - Pinto signs a bridge for 2 years (when Giroux is done) for a $2.5M raise ($3.5M salary)
    - Give Gus $1M raise if he plays decent ($1.7M salary)
    - Sign Holden to 1 yr $1M or another depth D for this

    Total signings of $17M

After all that and you have >$2.8M in cap space for 2022-2023.

Gets tricky with Sandy and Lassi expiring in the next year but could work if the cap bumps up a bit as it's reported that the players will have paid their debt to the owners by the end of the 23-24 season. Also would work if Giroux takes a 2 year deal, maybe at 8M. It's more then I would want to give him but might convince him to pay Ontario taxes after seeing his FLA pay cheques.

You can also throw a 2-3 year deal for JoJo and if he doesn’t work out, replace with a cheaper option

That's just praying with Murray is on LTIR 23/24 when Sens would like to sign Zub, Stutzie and Pinto. Giroux or Fiala but not both. Don't know if Arizona wants Zaitsev either.

They do with a 2nd okay. They’re taking Zaitsev. Say it with me:

Wishful thinking. Zaitsev has a 10 team no trade list An awful Arizona team with the worse travel schedule in the league doesn't seem appealing. Plus Zaitsev is owed 4.5m X 2 years in real $$$$. I know. we talk about cap floor but their are better alternatives for Zona
